Billy is traumatized by this experience when he stood too close to the edge and peed his pants and didn't have a good time. -
Billy's Father's Death
Billy's father dies in a hunting accident while Billy is on maneuvers in the army. Him throwing him in YMCA pool effects him throughout out the story as well. -
Weary's Death
Roland Weary dies in the box car, and he blames Billy for his death and he ended up dying in Lazaro's arms and Lazaro promised Billy would pay for what he's "done." -
Dresden Bombing
Billy was in a meat locker waiting out the bombing and he heard and saw everything destroyed afterwards. The bombings were the reason why he had PTSD and the reason why he travels to other planets to cope. -
Mental Ward
Billy commits himself to a non-violent mental ward. While there, he meets Eliot Rosewater. Eliot introduces Billy to the writing of Kilgore Trout and tells him about all the books he's wrote. -
Meeting Kilgore
Billy meets his favorite author, Kilgore Trout. He then drives Trout around to deliver papers because one of Trout's paper boys quit and they need to deliver papers. Billy then invites him to his wedding anniversary party. -
Germany POW
Billy was captured as a POW with Weary by the German, because he didn't really want to fight and Weary kept rescuing him, to be a hero. During that time German war photographer stages a capture scene of Billy emerging from a bush, surrendering to armed Germans. Billy becomes unstuck in time when captured. They and the rest of the prisoners march into Germany and soldiers are sorted by rank and placed in crowded boxcars. -
Plane Crash
Nearly twenty-five years after his experience in Dresden, Billy boards a chartered plane with twenty-eight other optometrists, including his father-in-law, headed for a trade conference in Montreal. Billy knows that the plane will crash. Someone started to sing on the plane. One of them is a Polish song about coal miners, which makes Billy remember a public hanging he witnessed in Dresden in which a Polish man was hanged. -
Valencia Dies
While Billy is recovering from a plane crash, Valencia dies after driving to the hospital to see Billy and gets in a car accident and dies of carbon monoxide poisoning. -
Billy's Death
Billy went to a baseball park and gave a speech to the audience about how he knew he was going to die that day and that it's okay. Police Officers even asked if he wanted them to protect him and he said no. Later that day he was shot and killed by a hired hit man from Lazzaro.
