So he goes to an acquaintance of his, Mr. Valdemar, who suffers from an illness that allows the exact moment of death to be calculated. He accepts the proposal. -

Time passes and the moment of Valdemar's death arrives, so the protagonist sets out to do mesmerism. Valdemar becomes receptive to the narrator's orders, and when he makes him speak he says he is dead.
Seven months later, Valdemar was still in a trance and that's when the narrator prepares to wake him up. Valdemar begs to be awakened since he is dead, and finally his body rots and turns into a liquid mass.
