Utopia
More created his best known work Utopia in the year 1515. Utopia was a novel of a perfect society which would have men and women educated equally, no private property an ideal political legal system and a perfect society. This novel was written in Latin. Utopia was translated into english by Ralp Robinson in 1551. -

Reformation and campaign against the reformation.
The protestant reformation began when Martin Luther stated that the church must be fairer, less greedy and that it needed changing as it was corrupt mainly due to the selling of forgiveness of sins. St Thomas stood by the church, supporting it, as he believed the reformation was a complete heresy. He did what he could in his power against the reformation by spying on possible Protestants, stoping Martin’s books from being bought, transported into England or sold. -

St Thomas more tried to resign as disagreement was starting to oppose him, although he was denied resignation! He attempted to resign again in 1532 stating that he was ill, this time he was allowed to reign. -

Refusing to take the oath
the Succession Act required More to take an oath that repudiateed the Pope, declaring the marriage between Henry and Catherine of Aragon invalid and acknowledged that the children of Henry and Anne Boleyn would be the legal heirs to the throne. More refused to take the oath and to attend the coronation of Anne Boleyn as the Queen of England. -

Beheaded
Sir Thomas More was beheaded as an order from King Henry VIII as he refused to take the Oath of Supremacy, which would make King Henry VIII the Supreme Head of the Church there fore convicted of attemtpting to over rule the government. Saint Thomas’ body was buried the Church of Saint Peter. -
Beatification
Thomas More was Beatified by Pope Leo XIII in 1886. -
Canonization
St Thomas and St John Fisher were canonized on the 19th of May 1935 by Pope Pius XI
