General Scipio Africanus
He was only 25 when he was sent to defeat the Carthaginians. Two generals were before Scipio and had lost but Scipio was successful. But Scipio just had his best moment in 202 BCE by defeating the leader of the Carthaginians named Hannibal. During the second Punic war Scipio was a civilian but came back when his uncle and father died. He had then beat Hasdrubal. He also was put command to all of Romes forces in Spain. -

General Gaius Marius
He broke with tradition and allowed Romans who didn't own land to serve in the military. This allowed for a much larger army. He made it so men had to carry their own equipment. He had a name for considerable acumen. The Jugurthine War was his best time. He had been elected consulship seven times. He then recruited a much larger army and then altered the Numidian strategy. The Numidian strategy was a strategy he developed to take alot of land. -

General Lucius Cornelius Sulla
He was born in poverty but was able to come and become one of the greatest generals of the Jugurthine War for the Roman empire. He was also exiled for breaking roman decree. He was then the first General to march on Rome. He was a soilder a politician a dictator and a reformer. He had a huge impact on the ways of the roman empire. He was a great politician. He was appointed dictator to. The Jugurthine war was about the power grab that Jugurtha had tried. -

General Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus
Pompeius was widely known as Pompey the great. He was one on the main leaders in the final decades of the Roman Republic. He was killed in Egypt when he got there because he fled from Caesar. Pompey military career started at the social wars. He had served under his father at Asculum. Pompey's political victories allowed him to his second triumph on December 29th 71 BCE. -

General Gaius Julius Caesar
Caesar was the first emperor for Rome. He had expanded the territory to the English channel and the Rhine. He also was the first General to cross them both. But Caesar was killed by traitors eventually. Julius Caesar had competed in many wars and became a political figure. He had become dictator for the Roman Empire but that only lasted 1 year because he was murdered. Julius Caesar was the most widely known general. -

General Marcus Antonius
He is considered by many to be the greatest Roman General ever. He had served under Julius Caesar. He was a student of philosophy. Marcus had tried to kill all the people who killed Julius Caesar. He then formed the second Triumvirate and he defeated all the traitors at Philippi. He had formed an alliance with Cleopatra and Egypt. He married Cleopatra where he ended up fighting against Octavian and Rome. -

General Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa
Vipsanius was Octavian's guide for the military strategies. He was a major figure in negotiating a settlement between Octavian and Anthony. Agrippa had received the power of a tribune. A tribune were infantry commanders. Agrippa was a great strategist. -

General Nero Claudius Drusus
He lead many expeditions into Germany to take it. He had died at the Elbe River in Germany. He was a driving force in taking Germany for the Roman Republic. -

He was related to Emperor Augustus. He was one of few Generals to cross the Rhine to fight with German forces. He had become consul twice but he had died at a young age -

General Gnaeus Julius Agricola
He was a General in the civil war under Vespasian. He had conquered much of Wales. including the Island of Mona. He had finished the conquest in northern England. He went to Scotland for his next conquest. Because of him the Roman permanently held Scotland.
