    He was the head Emperor Numerian’s bodyguard, but then Numerian was killed so, Diocletian took his place to avenge him. He became very ill after his 20th anniversary of being emperor and passed away.

    He was an outstanding general and a determined administrator. Aurelian also constructed a wall around Rome that still exists. He ruled for 5 years.

    Pertinax

    Pertinax
    He was a teacher before he became an emperor. Only ruled for 3 months, but he did rebuild the empire's finances. He ended up being stabbed to death.

    Lucius Verus

    Lucius Verus
    His dad, Lucius Ceionius, was a senator. Campaigned in the area of Pannonia against the Germans. He then died on the march home because of a stroke.

    Marcus Aurelius

    He was devoted to philosophy and had a 30 year marriage. While he was campaigning he became ill, he refused to eat or drink which led to death a few days later.

    Hadrian

    His father died when he was 10, then later in his life he was adopted by Trajan. Than, 2 days after he was adopted Trajan died and Hadrian became emperor. He ruled for 21 years and during those years he did good things for the empire.

    Trajan

    Was born into a wealthy family and was also the 2nd of The Five Good Emperors of Rome. Trajan kept good relations with the Roman senate. He is also known as the best military commander.

    Nerva
    Wasn't a heir to the throne, so he kind of had to work to became emperor. He was one of the Five Good Emperors of Rome and he was only ruler for 16 months.

    Domitian

    He was Titus's younger brother. Domitian was the 3rd and last emperor of the Flavian dynasty. He lacked charisma, was lazy, and was also very paranoid about being assassinated.

    Finished the construction of the Colosseum, which helped make his short rule unexpectedly popular. After defeating the Jewish, he celebrated his victory in the Roman Forum.

    The construction of the Colosseum finished while Titus was emperor. It is an arena that was used for public entertainment such as, gladiator fights, wild animal hunts, and public executions.

    Killed Galba then became emperor. The army declared him emperor. also knew what all the other rulers were up to.

    He didn't have much military experience and only ruled for 8 months. He then was killed by Vespanasian, who then became emperor.

    Was the 4th emperor of the year of 4 emperors. Had military command before he became emperor. He also had a wife and 2 sons.

    He ruled for 15 years. Was the fifth emperor of Rome and was also Claudius' step son. Went away to Greece which kept him away for 15 months.

    Accused for many things which made him appear unusual. He grew up with a disability that upset his mother. But by the end of his reign he made contributions that made Rome a better place.

    Caligula

    Wasn't quite 25 years old when he became emperor. He was the one who set in motion the conquest to Britain.
  • Period: 27 BCE to 14 BCE

    Augustus Caesar

    Augustus was the first emperor of Rome. He claims that he built or restored 82 temples in one year. His last words were, "I found Rome a city of clay but left it a city of marble."
  • Period: 14 BCE to 37 BCE

    Tiberius

    Second emperor of Rome and the adopted son of Augustus. By the age of 14 he was already learning what it was like to be ruler. He passed away leaving the empire prosperous and stable.

    He displayed talent and ambition. His rule ended after only 7 months because Otho killed him.

    Constantine I

    When his father died, troops proclaimed him emperor. He is one of the most influential rulers. Constantine ruled for 31 years which is longer then any emperor since Augustus.
