He was born in Kamsko-Votkinsk, in present day Udmurtia. The 7th of May of 1840 -
Graduation
Son of a mining engineer, Peter is sent to St. Petersburg to study at the School of Jurisprudence, from which he graduates in 1859. While there he also studies piano and singing, with the encouragement of an aunt. -
St. Petersburg conservatory
He studied in St. Petersburg conservatory from 1862 to 1865. -
Travel to Italy
From 1877 to 1884 he left Russia and he went to Italy where he completes the fourth symphony. -

Marriage
In 1877 Tchaikovsky marries Antonina Ivanovna Milyukova.He insists on a platonic marriage, because of his homosexuality. Two months later, they separate (but never divorce). The episode creates a crisis for Tchaikovsky. -
Travel to America
In 1891, he traveled to America where he was invited to conduct the New York Symphony at the opening of Carnegie Hall.
Then he settled in the town of Klin until his death. -

DEATH
Tchaikovsky's death has become a subject of dispute. A few biographers, raising rumor to fact, report that he committed suicide rather than face public disclosure of his homosexuality. In 1893. His brother said that he contracted cholera.
