After a failed attack on the Prophet's life, the Prophet, his compaions and the muslims migrated to a city called Yathrib (then changed to Madinah) They had offered sanctuary for the Muslims of Makkah, to leave the oppression of the Quraish. Battle of Badr (2 AH)
Madinah was ideally placed to attack the Quraish caravans transporting goods into Mecca. The prophet sent a few of his men to ambush the caravns and take some goods in exchange for the goods the Muslims left behind in Madinah. This led to the first battle between the Muslims and the Quraish. The two had met in between both Mecca and Madina: Badr. The Quraish had had 950 men, with a total of 70 deaths and 70 captured, while the Muslims had 314 men with 14 of them killed. The Muslims won. -

The Battle Of Uhud (3 AH)
The Battle of Uhud was the second battle between the Muslims and the Quraish that took place in the valley at Mount Uhud. The Maccans wanted revenge since they lost the first battle and came with 3000 men against 700 Muslims, and even though the Muslims started off winning, in the end they left their posts and the Quraish won.

The Trench & Seige (5 AH)
Quraish allied with other Arab tribes to take Madniah as one strong force (this included Banu Nadheer, previously banished from Madina after trying to assassinate the Prophe) Luckily, the propeht asked for strategies and Salman Al Farsi suggested that they build a trench around the city of Madina, so the Pagens can't enter the it. After building the trench, the Quraish & allies fell in or couldn't go forward, surrounded the city for 27 days before finally leaving defeated. -

Conquering Of Mecca
On December 11, 630 (Ramadan 20th 8AH), after Banu Bakr breached the Treaty of Hudaybiyah by attacking an ally of the Muslims, with the Quraish aiding them, the Muslims conquered Mecca. They circled the city without bloodshed and Abu Sufyan accepted Islam, the city was conquered peacefully, and the Ka’bah idols destroyed. http://prophetictimeline.com/Prophet/Timeline.php -

Conclusion
We can always learn something from the prophet's (Saw) actions and lifespan. In this particular timespan, I personally beleive we can learn about being humble and considerate of everyone. There were 3 (arguably 4) battles during this time and in every battle the Prophet always asked the leaders of Mainah and his companions for their opinions first. He always asked if they are ready for battle, and was mindful of their opions. We can learn to listen to others and appreciate different ideas. -

Treaty Of Hudaybiyah (6 AH)
In March 628, the prophet had a dream that the Muslims were performing Umrah in Mecca. 1400 Muslims journeyed there, but the Quraish stopped them from entering, so they moved to Al Hudaybiyah, a place where a peace treaty was signed. The rules were that Muslims can't perform Umrah this year but nect year, there was to be no war for 10 years, any person who leaves Mecca for Madina would be returned, but not the opposite, and anyone who wanted to ally with either party could do so wihtout balme.
