Introduction:
At about 20 years old, Johnny Depp got his start in Hollywood when he married his makeup artist wife in 1983. His first wife Lori Anne Alison had many connections in Hollywood and got her friend Nicolas Cage to set up an audition for him. He eventually got a part in the 1984 movie “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. -
Growth
Johnny Depp became popular when he was on the show “21 Jump Street” in 1987. The show was very successful and awarded him the title of a Teen Heartthrob. He eventually left the show in 1990 to pursue other roles such as “Cry-Baby” and “Edward Scissorhands”. After starring in “Edward Scissorhands" he went on to star in multiple other Tim Burton films. -
Maturity
At this point Johnny Depp was a very well-known actor and became even more popular with the 2003 release of the”Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. This film earned him an Academy Award nomination. His second Academy Award nomination was in 2004 after starring in "Finding Neverland". He then starred in more “Pirates of the Caribbean" movies which became a part of the highest grossing movies of all time. Through the 2000’s and 2010’s he continued to star in high grossing films. -
Decline
His decline began when he married Amber Heard in 2015 and divorced in 2016. Amber accused him of physically assaulting her and of having substance abuse issues. At this point his name and image was negative and had many news outlets slandering his name. Fast forward he sued Amber Heard for defamation from her post with “The Washington Post '' where she claimed she was a “victim of domestic violence”. The trial started in 2022 and eventually ended with him winning the trail and his image back. -
Decision Point
Since the trial his image has been cleared up and he has been out of the spotlight compared to the years before. He has recently been touring with his band “The Hollywood Vampires”. he is expected to continue acting but as of right time he is enjoying life out of the spotlight. -
