Whenever he left the presidency, he wrote "The Farewell Address" which gave his two cents on how the country should operate. It was published in the newspaper. -

He communicated with the military and other officials via the telegraph, which was invented in 1837, so Washington didn't have that available to him. He also gave speeches like the Gettysburg Address, which is similar to how Washington communicated with the common people. -

As always, McKinley gave speeches to address concerns or just to talk to the people of America, this will remain a continuity throughout time. He was also the first president to have a campaign commercial to showoff to the people, and his inauguration was filmed. This is different from past presidents because it made his ideals and agenda more available for everyone, since everyone can understand pictures but not all can read. -

He had his speeches that he gave out to the public, just like all the presidents before him. Theodore Roosevelt was known for his slogans and quotable quips that would make him memorable from the newspapers. This is different from other presidents because this is really one of the first times that the newspaper had a role in the election. People started to pay attention to what the newspaper had to say, and it would also expose corruption via muckrakers. -

He had verbal speeches throughout his presidency, just like all the presidents before him. He was also the first president to go on a radio station, as in a talk show, called Fireside Chats. This made his thoughts even more widely available to the people since, radios were very common in public places. -

He had his verbal speeches. He was also the first president to use the new invention the television a lot to communicate with the people. His presidential debates were televised, and used his charming persona and good looks to defeat his opponent. This was different from past presidents because, it was super easy to view the speeches/debates/announcements because it was televised nationally. -

Again, he used verbal speeches and the television to communicate with the people. However, he was the first president to send an important presidential email, although he didn't use it that often. This is different from other presidents because emails can be sent super fast, faster than the post. -

Obama had his speeches and televised debates, but he also had Twitter. President Obama was the first president to have an official presidential twitter account. This is different from past presidents because it allowed him to be "cool" and connect easier with the younger generation of voters. -

Trump used verbal speeches, televised conferences, and twitter to communicate with the people. The only difference is that he used his personal twitter account (got him banned too). He liked to spread some... radical ideals and some false information.
