Tweed not only bribed civilians but he bribed other government officials, Tweed once used $600,000 to bribe another government official into passing one of his charters. But soon people began to realize the loss of money, and others began to investigate. As people began to realize Tweeds form of corruption, they began to open their eyes and realize what was going on behind their doors.

    Sawyer, was a powerful Republican Party boss, he was well known in Wisconsin, and was clearly of high status, he later got himself into a little trouble with the law. But thinking that his wealth and status over ruled every other aspect, he Decided to bribe one of the lawyers to fight on his side, unfortunately for him, the lawyer Robert La Folletete had much dignity and pride, and reported the bribe and the money to newspapers so no one would find be efffected in the same situation.av

    The initiative reform, allowed citizens to enact laws by popular vote, referendum allowed voters to overturn an existing law, and lastly the recall reform, allowed voters to remove an elected official from office. These reforms were put into place to give more power to civilians, government officials began to realize these problems and took the power out of big businesses hands, and into the cities.

After about ten years of being governor, La Follette took action, he allowed only party members to choose party. Candidates, he wanted people to choose who they wanted in control, and soon more states allowed the people to rule.
