When Petey was born he was misdiagnosed, the doctors said he had deficiencies. -

pPetey parents tried to take care of Petey as he was a baby but the paretns gave up hope and sent him to warm spring insane asylum ( receving hospital.) -
Esteban Garcia starts to work at the hospital
Esteban was a maigrant worker he worked in many places like the potato feilds of North Dakota and the orange groves of the south. He looked for work at the hospital and they put him on probation. They liked how esteban woked so they kept him working at the hospital. Esteban cared for all the children in infints ward after his shift every day he said bye to all the children he stoped at peteys crib longer then all the others. -
Esteban defends the infiants in infiants ward
When a group of civic leaders toured the infianst ward one of them said " what a bunch of freaks. " As Esteban heard that he said "they are not a bunch of freaks they are poor children.
" after that the supeintentendent said to Esteban " I'll talk to you later. " -
Esteban protects Petey
while Esteban was say good bye to Petey, Petey saw that esteban was eating a chocolate bar. esteban tought Petey how to nod his head to say yes. when he did that he gave some chocolate to Petey it became a regular routine. one day Esteban showed one of the nurse what he taught Petey the nurse said that petey was an idiot and esteban told petey that he wasn't. -
Esteban doesnt come to work.
Esteban doesnt show up to work the next day and Petey is not understood by anyone. -
Petey moved to men's ward
At the age of eleven Petey is moved to Men's ward because infintants ward cann't care for him anymore. Petey also gets a wheelchair. -
Calvin talks to Petey
On Calvins third day in men's ward he roles his wheel chair over and talks to petey. After that Calivin finds out that Petey has problems and they become friends. -
Calvin finds a way to comunatcate with Petey
Calivin made a languge of there own with Petey they nodded and had diffrent geuters that petey could use to anser qestion that Calvin asked. -
Petey and Calvin become friends with Joe
Petey and Calvin talk with Joe and they become friends. -
Petey and Calvin are best friends
Calvin showed Petey how he could spin in his wheelchair. When Calvin fell and hit his head on the ground Petey was the only one there to help him but Petey can't talk. so hhe flailed his arms and scread to get the attenction of the nureses to help him. after calvin was ok he told Petey that he was his best friend -
Joe leaves the Ward
Joe has become very weak over time and can't work at the ward it pains Petey and Calvin to see Joe leave after all he has done for them. -
Petey becomes friens with Cassie Graber
Since world war two started most able body men were sent to fight in the war so a woman named Cassie Graber cared for Petey and they became good friends. -
Cassie leaves the ward
Since Cassie husband Alex gets sent home from the war Cassie leaves the ward to go to New York with Alex. Petey grealty miss Cassie as much as she miss him. -
Owen Marsh starts to work at the ward and becomes friends with Petey
Owen started working at the ward at age sixty five because of insted of retiring he wanted to help people and warm spring was the only place that would have him work there. He is interduced to Petey and Calvin and they sone become friends. -
Owen has to leave the ward becase he is getting to old.
Since Owen is seventy three years old he has to leave the ward. Since Petey and Calvin are good friends with Owen it pain them for him to leave. -
Calvin is transfered
Calvin was transfered to some where new because he could be cared for better there. But since Petey and Calvin have been friends since petey was eleven it was very hard for him to leave. -
Petey is transfered to Bozeman nursing home
Petey is transfered because he can be cared for better at a nurusing home but Petey had no idea why he was being moved. -
Petey meets Trevor Lad
When Petey sits outside the nursing home one day after school three neighbor hood school bullys throw slush balls at Petey. Trevor steps in to have the bullys stop. The bullys stil contiune to throw the slush balls at Petey and trevor. Petey started srceming and one of the nurses came out to help. -
Trevor vists the nursing home
When Trevor vistis the nursing home he is scared because he thinks it a madhouse. The only reason he went down there is because Sissy Michael a nurse there asked if he would come down and talk with her and Petey. Since Petey has been hurt so many times by people leaving him he decided not to talk with an one but since Trevor saved him Petey tried to become friends with him. -
Trevor becomes best friends with Petey
Trevor decides to go to the nursing home friday after school since his parents won't be home. Sissy asked if he could walk Petey around the block. So Trevor decides that he will. During his walk with Petey he runs into the school bullys that bullied Petey befor. Trevor tell Petey that when he tells him to make a lot of moise and flop his arms around so Petey did and he scared off the bullys by faking he had a seizuer. -
Trevor trys to get Petey a new wheelchair
Since peteys wheelchair is falling apart Trevor decides too get Petey a new one. After Trevor fiquers out that a new wheelchair that would be good for Petey is $3000 Trevor still decides to try to get it for Petey he puts coffee cans out at resterants and stores so peope can donate money for Peteys wheelchair. -
trevor takes petey on a walk
When Petey and Trevor go on a walk they find out the Owen Marsh lives in Bozeman. -
Trevor trys to find Calvin
Petey has a scrapbook and it had picture of Petey throught his life. He has pictures of someone named Ike he asked Owen if he knows how Ike is. It turns out that Ike is what he called Calvin because he could not pernounce his name. Trevor promised Petey that he would try to find where Calvin lives and inviite him over if he is still alive. -
Calvin comes to vist Petey
After Trevor finds out where Calvin lives he called and asked if he knew Petey and Calvin did. He was Very exited to see Petey again because of there long absensce.When Calvin got there they talk and souprised both Calvin and Owen by meeting up with each other. -
Petey dies
Petey was in his seventy when he died he was sick and in the hospital even though he had no family there were alot of people there when he died and when he was in the hospital.
