Industry vs. Inferiority
Pedro was nine years old when he joined the basketball team at his school. He was not good at first but put in dedication and effort to become one of the good ones; the crisis in this stage is learning a new skill. And getting out of the comfort zone (industry). At the same time, he was being bullied by some of his classmates because of his ethnicity, making Pedro uncomfortable (Inferiority). -
Identity and Confusion
Pedro had just turned 16 years old and had adapted to high school life, even though he had become an outstanding basketball player, which helped him boost his confidence and realize that he wanted to pursue a career in this sport. The crisis in this stage is becoming more independent and feeling good about himself (identity). However, he was worried that maybe he was not good at anything else but basketball (confusion). -
Intimacy and Isolation
Pedro was 25 years of age, a Junior at college, and accomplished since he could get a scholarship through basketball. But when it comes to romance and friendship, he is not so successful because he is such a perfectionist and so competitive; the crisis in this stage is his inability to connect emotionally (Intimacy). This made him regret being professionally successful but not so much emotionally and personally, leading him to be away sometimes ( Isolation).
