In addition to the historical evidence, there is a lack in evidence from the Egyptians which we know they recorded many things. By there being a lack of text from them about the exodus may suggest it occurred at this date. They probably would not want anyone to remember that they lost thousands of slaves. -

The early date is given for the exodus because of the Scriptural evidence given in Deuteronomy 6, 1Kings 6:1, and Judges 11:6. This would put the exodus at the time of Amenhotep II, not Rameses; some scholars believe Rameses was a general name given to rulers of this time period. Geographical evidence shows no signs of mass destruction to cities nearby, suggesting that when they fled, they did indeed disperse rather than pillage, as the later date theory explains. -
