    Noam Chomsky was born on December 7, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  • Education

    Noam Chomsky is a theoretical linguist and he is known for his contributions to the field of linguistics in the 50’s. In 1945 He entered college at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his doctoral degree in 1955 from the same university. In 1961 he was appointed a professor and MIT.
  • Contributions

    Chomksy’s most notable achievement are in the field of linguistics, in which he stated his concept that language is a basic instinct of humans. It is part of our brains chemistry. He believed that even though we are born with the ability to understand it, it needs development much like learning how to walk.
    He is the poster child for essentialism. The practice in which they try to identify the properties of language, that make it what is is.
