Over the span of 2-3 years, he slowly changed laws granting him more power. By 1927, he could do whatever he pleased, making the nation into a "police state". -

By changing laws over time, he had gained control of many strong Italian businesses. By 1935, Mussolini had calimed control over 2/3rds of businesses in Italy. -
WW2
Strongly influenced by Hitler, when WW2 broke out, Italy quickly sided with Germany. After that the allied powers soon sent forces after Mussolini. -
Mussolini's end to ruling
Italians grew steadily unhappier under Mussolini's rule and finally declared his time as ruler was over in 1942. -
Mussolini's capture and death
He was then captured in 1943, but escaped. Then in 1945 he was captured again being shot and killed.
