Move from Texas to Florida
Paul was on his way to Florida from Texas. Before he left, his imagination of a zombie following him representing that he was part of the family and that problems follow you no matter where you go. -
Muck Fire
Paul wakes up to the smell of ashtray and grey air. He believed that there's a fire going on so he tells his mom. He goes around the house looking for fire. Mom called the fire department and the firefighter came twenty minutes later. The young firefighter ended up telling them that the smoke is coming from the muck fire and that it's always burning -
They Meet Mr.Costello and Mike
It was the afternoon when Paul decided to go around on his bike. As he turned into a street he saw mom and a man. He pulled up to them and they greet each other. Mom tells Paul that he's "The president of the Homeowner's Association". When dad and Erik arrive mom and dad started to tell Mr. Costello how good at football he is, Mr. Costello also had a son who plays football named Mike. Mr. Costello mom and dad started to brag about all the things that their sons have done. -
Tour at new School
It was the afternoon when mom took Paul to "Lake Windsor Middle School". When they got there, there was portables outside which made mom question who goes there but when Mrs. Gates says the portables are for seventh graders and eighth graders mom wasn't pleased. Mom and Paul were disappointed in the school because when it rains they have to do p.e in their classrooms, they didn't have a gym, or an auditorium. -
Erik's football tryouts
The family is back at the highschool campus to see Erik try out for the football team. He didn't need to, but he was there anyway. Coach Warner was impressed when Erik drilled fifty-yard goals another after another. Dad started bragging telling to the Coach that Erik can score nine points a game and how he scored 14 points and a forty-seven yard field goal, which Paul believes it was the best day of his dad's life. -
First day of Kindergarten
It was seventhirty the first day of school.He was walking and something started to bother him,a gray wall seemed familiar,he started slowing down and he came to a complete stop.A scene came on his head,he was standing in the back of a line waiting for the bus to arrive so he can go to his first day of kindergarten.He came with Erik who was in fifth grade with his friends.One of his friends turned around and started calling him eclipse boy and then all the big kids were calling Paul eclipse boy. -
Erik and His Friends
Erik practices for his football dream meanwhile Arthur holds the ball. Erik, Arthur, Tina, and Paige are always hanging out in the smoke of the muck fire or the girls do their homework on the cement patio meanwhile the boys are kicking the ball trying to aim for the net. Paul believes that Paige is going to be Erik's girlfriend and Tina is going to be Arthur's girlfriend. Arthur has a white toyota land cruiser that they use for mud running.When they can't, they run up and down the dirt road. -
Getting Prepared for tryouts
He's getting prepared today for soccer tryouts so he packs for knee pads, elbow pads, and his prescription glasses. Pauls prescription glasses are not ordinary, there special glasses. Their made of some kind of astronaut plastic that can't break. -
Paul's Soccer Tryouts
Paul was tired by the sixth period but once school ended, he was full of energy he regenerated energy for the soccer tryouts. He met up Joey and they started jogging to the field. Once we got to the field Joey pointed at people and told Paul who they are. then Joey points at a boy name Gino who he said is going to be co-captain or captain this year. Everyone cheered because they all made the team but only fifteen people are allowed to ride the bus to go to a game -
Mike Costello's Death
Mom and Paul had just returned from the grocery store when Erik and Arthur told mom that Mike died. Mike was standing at the end zone with his hand leaning on the goalpost and all of a sudden he was striked by lightning. All the coaches tried to do CPR on him but nothing worked. When Paul walked into the kitchen and he heard Erik and Arthur laughing about Mike's hair which shocked Paul on how they can be so happy about death. -
Pray for Mike Costello
It was a new day so they had to go to school which mom was mad about because they didn't cancel classes or football practice after a tragedy. In the announcement they had no "pray for Mike Costello" or "pray for Joey Costello. Mrs. Alvarez made us write a letter to Joey Costello and his family. -
The football Campaign
Mom had called probably all the football players parent to come to the campaign at her house at 7:45. Paul helped arrange the couches and add extra chairs in the great room. Mom and coach Warner tried to figure out how they can have football practices when lightning won't strike the players. Mom wanted Coach warner to have practices in the morning but Coach warner said he could not do that because he can not have parents and players to give up their sleep and not everyone has a ride to school. -
Getting kicked off the Team
Paul was practicing some easy shots when Gino came over saying that Coach wanted to talk to him. Paul was expecting the Coach to tell him how impressed he is and that he was going to make him an official member of the team. When Paul gets to Coach, Coach asks paul if He has an "IEP". Paul responds by saying yes but then he got told that he can't be apart of the team because everybody has to have insurance in the program and if they don't they can't play. -
The funeral
As Paul walked inside the church he started to get butterflies in his stomach because he has never seen a dead body before. Paul didn't know hot to behave so he just copied mom and dad, they said a short prayer and then mom and dad went behind Mr. Costello and Mrs. Costello to get to talk to them. When it was they're turn to talk Mr. Costello told Paul that Joey will be happy to see him. -
Two Disasters in one day (part 2)
Paul and Joey were going back to their classes when the field began to move and there was cracking sounds. The portables were starting to break and move. The kids inside the portables rushed to go outside pushing eachother in the mud slide that was swirling in a circle. Paul thought it was an earthquake but Joey knew it was a sink hole so he pointed at portable 19 being swallowed into the mud. Paul ran to go save his classmates with some eighth graders. They managed to get everybody. -
Two Disasters in one day (part 1)
Paul was in his math class when a kid came telling Paul that he was wanted in the office. When Paul got to the office Joey, Adam and the two boys who were with Paul at the carnival were in there. Mrs. Murrow was angry and she asked the boys to tell them exactly what happened at the carnival. Paul and the boys were there because they got a complaint from the owner of the carnival that one of the rides were vandalized but luckily Paul remembered who got into the ride and they were innocent. -
The important letter
Mom and Dad get a letter that everyone is suppose to attend on Friday seven-thirty pm in the high school gym. The letter said state and country officials are suppose to attend and that they're working to make an emergency relocation plan. Paul was shocked that they were suppose to go back to school on Thursday because all the building have been certified as structurally safe by a team of engineers. -
How Dad became Became the New Director of Civil Engineering
Dad got his new job because Charley never denied one request for a permit and they never sent out a spectator either. They let the developers hire their own inspector, to fill out their own inspection reports, and to let the developer conduct their own geological surveys. According to the news, Old charley has been living in the high life instead of inspecting new development plans. -
The Catholic School
Mom has been calling every private school that Paul can go to. Mom was trying to send Paul to a local Catholic school called "St. Anthony's". They have to wear blue pants, blue ties, and white shirts. Mom wanted Paul to go to that school even though they were not catholic. She says that it's just a coincidence that only catholic people go there and that ten percent of the school are not catholic. Mom even said that there is people trying to attend there from Lake Windsor Middle school. -
Paul Goes to a New School
When mom drove Paul to the new school mom was unimpressed, there was two small groups kicking eachother and the other group looked like they were gang members. The third floor was for sixth, the second floor was for seventh, and the first floor was for eight. The principle " Dr. Johnson" gives Paul someone that can give him a tour, her name was Theresa. She was a small skinny girl with brown hair tied in a ponytail. Theresa was quite and had nothing to say. She would introduce Paul silently. -
Ax Man
It was the second day of the new school and when Paul was at lunch and a group of guys came. They started telling Paul that he wasn't good enough and that Lake Windsor's team was a joke and they play really bad. Paul asked them why they weren't a practice yesterday and they responded that they had vandalism jail. They got in jail because they were at the carnival and they were reading about ax man, who chops people. Hernando got scared so he karate kicked ax man and he broke into little pieces. -
Mike's Shoes
Joey cam over at Paul's house and they were talking about their uniforms, when Erik and Arthur comes and they start calling Joey Mohawk man's brother. They stared mocking him for trying to take off Mike's shoes when he got strike by lighting. Joey didn't understand though because he had no idea who was Mohawk man so Paul ends up telling him. joey got mad and wanted to punch Erik and Arthur. He was taking off Mike's shoes because Mike always felt better with his shoes off. -
The First Soccer Game
Paul went on the bus heading to the soccer game. Victor counted if everyone was on the bus and there was sixteen so they took off. they stopped at a school that looked exactly like Paul's school he's going to right now. When they were running around the field people were spitting at them, yelling nasty stuff at them, and jeering. It seemed like the ref had no clue what he was doing because the other team were tripping and throwing elbows and he wouldn't blow the whistle. -
The First Day of Football Season
Today was the day of football season for the Lake Windsor High Seagulls. They played against Cypress Bay High Cardinals, home. Erik's uniform was a light blue helmet, white pants, and a light blue jersey with a number one in the back. Paul got to the football field early so they managed to get a "home side bleachers." The Cypress fans had no where to sit they passes where the sinkhole took place and they sat there. Mr. bridges was yelling at them to get off but they weren't listening. -
The Second Soccer Game
The game was home against Kinnow Middle School. They wear black uniforms with silver letters. Henry told Paul that they lost by them last year. Victor was trying not draw any attention, he put pressure on his forehead so he can stop the blood from coming down. they forced him not to play but he wanted to, he ended up not playing. When they started playing again Paul went in front of the goal and they passed the ball to him and without even thinking Paul scored a point. The final score was 7-3. -
Too Much Teasing
Soccer practice was over and Paul was walking with Joey when Victor came. Victor asked Paul why Joey is always following him and so Paul said "I don't know why don't you ask him." Joey was upset but Paul smiled to tell him it was a joke. Victor told Joey if Paul was his boyfriend and Joey disagreed. Mom invited Joey to stay over at their house because it was full of termites but Joey didn't want to because of the incident that happened with Erick and Arthur. -
The News Reporter
Paul was at soccer practice when a van with the tangerine times logo on it headed to the field. It was young guy with long hair. He started taking pictures of Nita and Maya. They were asking for their last names but Mr. Donnelly was telling the news reporter that Victor is the one who should be taking pictures of because he's the captain of the team. -
The School Argument
It was science class and Paul and Joey have joined a group owned by Tino so they had to follow what he said. When they were sitting down Joey was mad and Paul was telling him how its a different time so Tino might act different because they're somewhere else but then Joey said he quit the team so he can join football. After that Pail now knew how different they are from eachother. -
The School Argument (Part Two)
When Joey came with Paul, he asked why isn't Theresa guiding him. Joey called her a guide dog and that seemed to make Paul mad and told him that he came to the school with the wrong attitude. He said that you have to be blind to need a guide which offended Paul because he used the guide. Joey ended up leaving the science group and joined the left over people. -
The Meeting of the Homeowner Assosiation
They were having a meeting at Paul's home because they were going to talk about the termite problem and all the break ins in the neighborhood. They were talking about how they should get a neighborhood patrol or hiring a real guard to sit in the guard house. Mr. Donnelly applied to get permission to install a lightning rod on his roof. They also talked about how all the Koi are gone. -
The Clock
Paul was staring at a backyard when all of a sudden he had another flashback, Dad was telling Erik to move in a circle around and behind Paul, they imagined that Paul was in the middle of the clock, Erik was at twelve o'clock standing right behind Paul meanwhile dad was at six o'clock. Paul wasn't able to see Erik in any time or position and that's when they found out he was blind. -
The Great Change
In this day Paul talks about all the changes that have been happening. Dad is now the official Director of Civil Engineering, Mom is now the head of the Architecture Committee, Erik is now always surrounded by kids that look up to him, and Paul has won seven soccer games in a row. Paul admitted that it has been the greatest thing that happened to him. -
The Breaking Bone
Paul was at the tangerine nursery helping out so he can know more for the project. They sat down for a break when Tino said you don't pick the oranges you clip them. Luis was doing that when he fell out of a tree ten years ago. He landed on his knee cap and cracked it and then he stabbed himself with the clippers in a hand. the next morning his knee looked like a soccer ball, he couldn't walk for two months and Mama told him to never go picking again. -
Grandmom and Granpop
Paul got another memory and his mom asked to get the garage door button. He suddenly heard his grandmothers voice saying"Caroline, your father and I are talking about some vacation time down in florida." Mom tells Paul to don't say anything bad to grandma and grandpa. Grandma then went to Paul and asked him what the hell happened to his eyes. Mom responded by saying they can talk about it inside but atleast Paul was ok. They went inside and Paul was just left with Erik staring at him. -
No Game
Paul had a soccer games with the worst team and they would not do anything they would just stand there. They were makin shots when it started to strike lightning. They had to go inside because it's their policy rules so they did. Victor kept on complaining on how they should be playing in the rain or if they will still get the points. The coach said that they haven't lost any games so they will just have to forget those points. -
Soccer Fame
It is the day before the big game and Paul was reading on an article about how Maya has 22 scores, Gino and Victor both have 18 scores, and that Maya has scored more goals than more of the teams in the country. Tangerine Middle had 52 goals which is already ten above the previous record. When Paul was done reading the article he wondered if Betty Bright the coach mind the publicity or the fame. -
Too Much Violence
They had the last game of soccer and Paul believed saw that Maya did not look good. When they were in the middle of the game someone grabbed Victor by the hair and punched him in the face. Paul ended up replacing him but then Maya threw up so he took her place. More later when Paul was in Mayas place Gino kicked the ball at Paul and Paul tried to get it but he failed so the ball bounced off his face and Paul's nose started to bleed. They ended up winning. -
The Fight
The science group came over to Paul's house when Erik pointed at the group and called them farm-labor kids. Tino got mad and told Erik that he is a really funny guy because whenever he watches TV and Erik is on he laughs. Then Tino started saying how it's funny when he pretends to kick the football then he goes flying and lands on his butt. Really Fast Erik punched Tino in the face which caused him to fall down on the grass. -
The Fight (Part 2)
It was Erik's football practice was over when Luis pulled up in his green truck. He asked who is Erik Fisher and where is he and no one responded. The he told Erik "I think you are but your just not man enough to say so". Arthur reached Luis and whipped him with a black jack on his head. Luis fell on his knees and Erik and Arthur walked passed him like nothing happened. When they reached the gate Erik and Arthur started laughing. -
Fighting the Freeze
They were at the school and Paul realized that there was a lot of kids missing. He asks Henry D and he said that it's a tradition in tangerine that kids from families who are in the citrus or vegetable community that the parents need help from the kids. Most people in Tangerine are small growers. They use haul out tires and they start a bonfire in the grove to fight off the freeze. They will do anything to create heat and smoke. -
The News Article
It was the morning and Paul went outside to go get a news article. It was mainly about Antoine and nothing about Erik which made dad really mad.He said that Brian Baylor wanted to make Erik and Arthur look like fools. Paul the found the all country middle school soccer team, it had the faces of people who Paul played against and who he played with. The goal tender Shandra Thomas was missing. -
The Neighborhood Meeting
The whole neighborhood came to Paul's house today. The were talking about the robberies and how a person stands outside with a gun. They started talking about the koi fish have been disappearing. Paul then said that probably some birds of prey have been taking them because he always see's bird heading to route 89 with fish in their talons. -
The death of Luis Cruz
It was a new day of school when Henry D told Paul what happened. Tino and Theresa were waiting outside to be picked up and Luis never came. Theresa told her father and he walked into the grove Luis was lying there dead. They believe what caused his death is a aneurysm, like a blood clot. Paul wanted to know more so he asked a website "ask a nurse" and he asked if a aneurysm could kill you buy getting injured in the head and it can burst right away through a month. -
Did You Ever Hear...
Theresa called Paul to warn him about Tino and Victor and to not go to the funeral. Paul questioned himself how did they find out and who told them. He left and stared into the water when a kid came to Paul and told him that there's a gator in there and that his parents told him that. Paul started to tell him that thats a lie and Paul started to give more lies that his parents told him, and then he started to tell the kid rel life event that Paul went through and the kid left with his bike. -
Like an Idiot
At exactly twelve Paul put on the blue shirt he wore on Mike's funeral. Paul got down on his knee's and started to scrape away the sugar sand. He scooped the sand up until there was dirt. Paul started thinking about Luis Cruz and then started to cry.He got up and he felt strange and remarkable, he felt like Luis is a part of him now. -
It is Not the Solar Eclipse Fault
Paul had a huge fight with Erik when then he remembered the "silver-gray wall". He started to remember when he was five years old and Erik had a friend named Vincent Castor. Castor had a can of white paint and they painted the silver-grey wall and everybody knew. Paul went to the garage and Erik told him that he is going to have to pay for what he did. Erik grabbed Paul from behind and opened his eyelids open meanwhile Castor sprayed the white pain into Pauls eyes. -
Sick of Heart
It was early in the morning and Joey called Paul to see if he was ok and not arrested. Joey tells Paul that Betty Bright is out in front of Mr. Donnelly's house so Paul went there on his bike.When he got there Shandra was there. Paul and her were talkng about Antoine and that he's sick by heart for lying everyday. Antoine was diassapointed Sandra because on the news article she didn't put her picture because it would be wierd that she played fot Tangerine and her brother played for Lake Windsor. -
Erik and Arthur got Caught
They were having a meeting i the afternoon and Erik and Arthur were outside and mom called Erik and Arthur to come inside. Mom started telling the people in the meeting that she was looking boxes of winter clothing she found a gym bag that did not belong to them. When she opened the gym bag there was U.S army gas mask, a pair of rubber gloves, and a plastic supermarket bag filled with diamond earrings, watches, gold rings, and other type of jewelry. -
Paul the Newest Gangster
Paul was going to school early because he was going to have a talk with the principal. The principle talked to mom first and when Paul went to the office moms eyes were red but not crying. Pauls violation was a level four Infraction. Paul was expelled from all the Tangerine Public schools for the rest of the year and Paul is going to be attending a private school for half of the seventh grade. When he was done he went outside and the baddest gangster congratulated Paul, next thing all of them. -
Who is the Innocent one?
Dad had to take Erik to the police station in the morning. Arthur was trying to blame Erik and he is saying that Erik made him do it. The polices are trying to find someone to blame but no one was really there friend so the polices can't get clues. Paul and Tino were talking about the new school that Paul is going to St. Antony's and how they beat them in soccer every year. Tino called Paul brother which Paul kept on thinking about it, then he heard pacing back and forth in the cage he made. -
The Trees
Dad was driving Paul to his new school and then when they were on the way Dad pointed at a tree and told Paul that, that is Mike's tree. Paul started to think Mike has his tree but Luis will has his tree too but Luis will have many more. Then the car got the scent of the golden dawn.
