1 Germany invades Poland, starting World War II
Many of the peculiar children who ended up at the orphanage did so during WWII, because thier homes were being torn apart by war, and they often had no where else to go. -
2 Miss Peregrine creates the time loop that will keep the children safe.
Miss Peregrine and the children she was looking out for were living at an orphanage for peculiar children on a small island in whales. On September third, 1944, the island was bombed, and their house along with it. In order to protect the children, Miss peregrine was required to create a loop in time, where the day of September third 1499 would be repeated everyday from then on. -
7 Jacob goes through the time loop for the first time, and meets the people who reside at the orphanage.
Jacob meets all the peculiar children, who claim that he must be peculiar too, he does not really believe them. They continue to insist that he is, and so was his grandfather. He continues to go to the orphanage throughout his stay in Wales. -
10 The monsters that are after the children take over the loop.
The monsters take over the loop that the children are surviving in, and after a very intense fight, they are required to leave the home that they have resided in for over 70 years. -
8 Jacob learns the truth about his grandfather, and himself.
After a few visits to the home, Jacob learns the truth. His grandfather was able to see the horrible creatures that are hungry for peculiar souls. The hallowgausts are monsters that are invisible to most, but Jacobs grandfather could see them, enabling him to kill them, and Jacob has the same peculiarity. -
11 The peculiar children see the day of September 4th 1944 for the first time.
After reliving September 3rd for over 70 years, the children's loop has broken, so they come out of their island home and go out to explore the world. -
3 Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is published

4 Jacob Portman's grandfather, Abe, passes away in Jacobs arms.
Jacob gets a call while he is at work, telling him that he must go to his grandfathers house, who is having issues with his old age. He goes to his house, only to find it trashed, and his grandfather no where to be found. He goes out into the woods, where he finds his grandfather lying on the ground, with slashes in his stomach. He sits with his grandfather while he dies, and tells him his last words, which are about the peculiar tales he told Jacob when he was young. -
5 Jacob goes to the island in Whales where his grandfather spent his childhood
Jacob has been struggling with the circumstances of his grandfathers death, especially because of his strange last words. His therapist feels that visiting the island where his grandfather grew up will be good for his mental recovery. Jacob hopes to find any people who live there and might remember his grandfather. -
6 Jacob discovers the old house that his grandfather grew up in, which is torn apart from bombings and 70 years of weather.
Jacob treks through the woods to the old orphanage that his grandfather grew up in, and when he sees some children while in the basement, he chases them back into the woods, and they lead him into a tomb, which he goes into and when he comes out he is in the time of September third 1944 -
9 Strange things are happening in the present
There is a suspicious character in modern wales. Somebody has slaughtered an entire herd of sheep, and a citizen of the town has been murdered. The townspeople are looking for a scapegoat, and many suspect Jacob, but he knows he is innocent, and believes the culprit is the mysterious bird watcher who has been bothering his father.
