His first memory was this major hurricane that came through New England and caused mass destruction to the area and everything around it. -
Start of World War 2- Anti-Semitism
There was major anti-Semitism, violence, and destruction of property. He described to me many memories of when he was in fights where people threw rocks at him and slashed knives. A specific story was that when he went to Hebrew school, he would get out at 5:00 and run up the hill home, and the only way he could escape getting beat up, because he was Jewish, was to jump 10 feet out of a window into big bushes. -
Moved
He moved from Roxbury to Newton with his mother, father, and grandmother. -
Tryout for MLB
He tried out for the Detroit Tigers as a pitcher but ended up turning it down because his father told him he wouldn't make it in the major leagues and medical school would take him farther in life. -
Mother Dies
Gertrude Altman (second from left) dies from ovarian cancer at age 41, while my grandfather (far left) was just 16 years old. -
Brown University
Attended Brown University where he majored in biology, played football, and ran track. My aunt, and cousin also ended up going to Brown. -
Rivers Country Day School
He did a PG year at Rivers since he was very behind in his senior year because of his mother's death. -

Broke record for 220 yard dash as a freshman with a time of 21.8s at Brown. -

Cape House
In 1997, they bought their second Cape house by the beach in Osterville. Today, we still go to this same house my dad grew up going to. The house is so special to me because I get to spend time with my family in a place that I love. I included a picture of my dad, sister, and I at our favorite beach since, without my grandfather, I would not have grown up making so many amazing memories in such a magical place. -

Retired
He retired from the office at the age of 81, although he still does work in clinical trials. He lives a happy life in Framingham with my grandmother and loves to spend time with his 3 kids, 6 grandkids, and 1 (soon-to-be 2) great-grandkids.
