    Beach Party!

    Beach Party!
The day after his mother's funeral, Meursault goes to the beach and meets up with Marie, who he "had a thing for." They engage in physically "close" activities. This reflects on Meursault's fulfillment of physical needs over emotion. Having no care for his mother's recent death, he decides to go to a comedy film with Marie and pursues further physically "close" activities at "his place" with her.

    Another Beach Party!

    Another Beach Party!
Meursault and Marie go to the beach again. Through Meursault's fixation of Marie's physical "attributes" and determination to continue with more physically "close activities," it is clear that he has no interest in her actual character.

    Do you LOOOVVVE MEEEE?

    Do you LOOOVVVE MEEEE?
After a physically "engaging" time at the beach, Marie and Meursault return to "his place." Demanding to know whether or not Meursault loves her, Marie is disappointed to hear that "it didn't mean anything, but that [he] didn't think so." Portraying Meursault not only as apathetic, but also as absurdist in his claim that "it didn't mean anything," this shows that Meursault is entirely bewildered by human emotion.

    "Romantic" Proposal

    "Romantic" Proposal
Visiting Meursault, Marie asks if he wants to marry her and whether or not he loves her... again. Again, Meursault explains that it doesn't matter, but he says that he'll marry her if she really wants to. This again reflects on the fact that Meursault is absurdist. He doesn't see any value in the decisions he makes and is more content to allow others to make them for him.
