Manuel Noriega was born February 11, 1934. He was born in Panama city in the country of Panama oddly enough. But there has been debate about his actual birth date because the court heard that he was born in 1936.

When Manuel was born he was relatively poor. His mom died from turbeculius when he was still a child. Noreaga found a woman named Felicidad Sieiro de Noriega 1960, who he then married and had 3 daughters. -

He studied at Chorrillos military school in Lima.Manuel also studied at the School of americans.Noriega graduated from Chorrillos in 1962 engineering and then returned to Panama to join the national guard. -

He served from 1967 to 1990. Noriega was the military leader of Panama from August 12,1983 - December 20,1989. He was commanded during his entire services to always be in the Panama defence forces. -

So why was Manuel Noriega arrested? 1.) he was arrested for smuggling drugs to the U.S. in the early 1980s.2.) Money laundering since he would get up to $100,000 per shipment of drugs. 3.) he began supplying weapons to the M-19 rebel group in 1981, all of these things made him get a total of 40 years in prison. -

In 1984 Manuel would rather not be president and stay behind the scenes to avoid public scrutiny. He persuaded the congress to pass law 20.The law was supposedly supposed to protect Panama canal from communist and gained the national guard control over immigration,customs,railroads,commercial transportation and airports. -

Panama had gained many allies because of Manuel Noriega. The most common allie was the U.S. they also owned Panama in December of 1989. The U.S. since they owned Panama they maintained Manuels support, which means that anytime that he was in trouble the U.S. would help get him out of it if it wasn’t that important. -

In 1992, at a U.S. court Manuel was convicted of cocaine trafficking.This is also why he was sentenced to 40 years. However he was only in jail for 17 years because of good behavior. -

Manuel was accused of murder July 10,1992, witnesses said that they saw Spadafora removed from the bus. The decapitated body was later found and showing signs of brutal torture,wrapped in a mail bag. Spadafora's murder badly damaged Manuels image inside Panama and outside. -

Manuel died May 29, 2017. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2017. Manuel received complications after surgery to try to remove it and died 2 months later. He died at the age of 83.
