Andrew Carnegie was born in 1835 in Scotland to a poor weaver. -
In 1848 his parents brought him and his family to America, when he turned 18 he worked as a secretary to a railroad official in Pittsburgh. -
In 1865 Andrew left the railroad company he worked for to start his own. -
In 1873 Andrew Carnegie started his first steel mill. -
In 1899 Andrew had controlled a quarter of American steel and iron production and then two years later he retired. -
After he retired he spent his last 18 years of life for public good. in 1911 he gave a gift of $125 million dollars to establish the Carnegie Corporation of America.
