Ian Hacking was a Canadian Philosopher who taught for 40 years, 22 years at the University of Toronto. He was a voracious author having written "13 books translated into more than a dozen languages." His first book of 13 total, was published in 1965. But it was in his third book The Emergence of Probability, published in 1975, that he truly set forth his unique take on both statistics and Philosophy. Ian Hacking (18FEB1936-10MAY2023) Collège de France
Ian hacking was the "first Anglophone elected to a permanent position at the Collège de France," in the year 2000, and served as a Professor there as well as the "holder of the Philosophy and History of Scientific Concepts Chair," until he retired in 2006.
The Collège de France is considered by many to be the most prestigious College in the country, located in Paris, his appointment to this college truly shows how dedicated and influential Ian Hacking was. -
