Birth

Education
In his early years at primary school, it was evident that John was mathematically gifted. He went on to study at Trinity College in Cambridge where he would acquire a bachelor's in mathematics in 1952 and then went on to get a master's in mathematics in 1955 and then finally achieved his doctorate in quantum field theory in 1956. -
From Physicist to Priest
In 1974 Polkinghorne was selected as a fellow into the Royal Society but only five years later resigned as a professor and said his research had come to an end. That same year he went on to study theology at Cambridge. Major works
John Polkinghorne wrote the book "The way the world is" in 1983 and explained how thinking people can also be Christian's. This was the first book of several on his quest to show the world the correlation between religion and science. The Faith of a Physicist appeared in 1994 as well as Faith, Science, and Understanding in 2000. All of these books represented Polkinghorne's work in finding a way to show others that science and religion are one. -
Creating Balance
From his consistent knowledge of science to his faith he understood that other scientists were just like him and so in 1986 Polkinghorne helped find the Society of Ordained Scientists as well as being president of "The International Society for Science and Religion".
Polkinghorne was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1997 for his service in the science, religion, and medical ethics. -
Death
John Polkinghorne lived a very thoughtful and passionate life. From his birth in 1930 to his recent death on March 9th, 2021 in Cambridge.
