Education in Science
John gained his first bachelors degree in 1952, in mathematics. He later gained a masters degree in quantum field theory (1955) followed by a doctorate in the same field(1956). In 1974 he received a doctorate in elementary particle physics as well. -
Calculating quantum particles
Polkinghorne was made a fellow of the royal society after he created a model to calculate the path of quantum particles in an atom. This discovery helped pave the way for continued understanding of the quantum sciences.But shortly after this discover he resigned is post at Cambridge to start theological studies. -

His priesthood
After being ordained in 1982 he was assigned a Parrish in South Bristol. only 2 years later he became a vircar. Shortly after he became the fellow, dean, and chaplain of Trinity hall in Cambridge.

The Way the World is
In 1983 Polkinghorne published his first book The Way the World is. It was the first of several book in which he described how someone can be both scientific and religious which at the time was starting to become a rather sore point in both the scientific and religious communities. He basically explains how he sees that while science makes sense of the world around us, that the world seems very ordered in just such a way that we can make sense of it, and a creator must be the reason for this. -

Polkinghorne Wrote several other books bridging Religion and science. In 1994 there was The Faith of a Physicist.In 20 he released Faith science and Understanding. In 2002 he finished The God of Hope and the End of the World. In 2007 he published Quantum Physics and Theology, as well as his Autobiography From Physicist to Priest.
