    Birth
    John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England on October ninth 1940. When he was only 3 years old his father left the family, his mother then sent him to live with her sister, Mimi. Lennon lived with his aunt, but his mother would always visit and encourage his creativity. He got a guitar in middle school, and his mom helped him learn a few cords by listening to Elvis Presley. Unfortunetly his mother died while Lennon was still a teenager, but her support really helped him later with his music.

    Formation of The Beatles

    When Lennon was just 17 years old him and McCarthy started a band called, "The Nurk Twins". The following year George Harrison joined them, and they changed the name to, "Johnny and the Moondogs". In 1959 a bass player, Stuart Sutcliffe joined the band but was later kicked out because they had McCarthy already. Then a guy named Pete Best came and played drums, He was later replaced by Ringo Starr in August 1962. They were the Silver Beatles but finally changed it to just The Beatles in 1962.

    The Beatles are an iconic rock band, that was created by Lennon and McCarthy. The four band members are John Lennon, Paul McCarthy, Gerorge Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The four of them made amazing songs and music. Their vocals and harmonies where unlike anything ever before them. They first became popular in England, and other European countries. After a few years the hit group moved over to america to spread their music further.
  • Bed Peace

    Lennon and Ono were peacful activists. They believed in protesting in peacful ways. During the vietnam war in 1969, they decided to do a "bed-in" for peace. They did this for 2 weeks in differnt hotels, one in Amsterdam and one in Montreal. The goal of these "bed-ins" were to protest the continuation of the war in a peacful way. This act struck a huge amount of press, and even had a documentary made about it.
  • Breaking up of the Beatles

    The breaking up of The Beatles made national news, it was a huge breakup for the rest of the counrty. Fans all over were frazeled. Many blame Yoko Ono for the breaking up because Lennon left soon after they got together. But McCarthy has stood up for her and said that you can't blame her for everything, and that Lennon was already on his way out before he met Ono. Lennon was just a seperate person and could no longer handle all the publicity and fame. He wanted a more peaceful relaxing life.
  • Death

    John Lennon assasinated. He was shot by Mark David Chapman, right outside the building where he and Yoko Ono lived. Chapman was a crazy man. He told Yoko Ono that he did not kill her husband because of who he was as a person, he killed him because he was famous, and that if he was less famous, and further down on his celebrity hit list he would not have killed him. He just wanted to kill celebrities because he believed they shouldn't be famous and looked up to.
  • Memorial

    This memorial was created only months after Lennon died. It was placed in Lennon and Yokos favorite place in Central Park, in New York City. Not only was this built there, but the section of the park was also renamed, Strawberry Fields after a very well know song, The Beatles created. Since it has been built twice a year once on his birth day, and on his death, fans come and cover the memorial in flowers in memory of Lennon and all the amazing music and peace he created in this world.
  • Impact on the World

    In this video that is linked, it shows how much John Lennon impacted the world. It is now 75 years after his tragic death and fans all over the world still come together to celebrate his life and what he stood for, peace. This peace sign was organized by Ono in honor of what would have been his 75 birthday this Friday. While forming the peace sign Ono, and others preformed. The fans kept the positive attitude Lennon would have wanted, happy and peaceful.
