George Eastman
In 1888 he created the name Kodak. After 100 exposures you sent the camera back and they processed it for you. Henry Reichenbach created a flexible flip that would later be used in motion picture cameras and for Kodak's new smaller camera.(Sold cameras for $25 which equals to $562.88 today) -

At the age of 14 he dropped out of school and began a messenger and office boy to help his family. He got a job as a bookkeeper. After his trip he started to research how an average man could take pictures. He looked off a british dry plate and created his own gelatin-based paper film and a device for coating dry plates. He created his company in 1880 and than in 1885 him and William Hall Walker developed a smaller and cheaper camera. -
George Eastman
George Eastman innovated the camera and created the Kodak Company name in Rochester, New York. He created the camera when he was 24 and he wanted to go to Santa Domingo and take pictures of the trip, but the equipment was heavy, enormous, and costly. He bought it but didn’t go on the trip so he could make taking a picture easier.

Cash Register
James Ritty created the Cash Register in Dayton, Ohio in 1879. He created it out of desperation. His restaurant was super popular but was losing money because they had no way to keep track of what they were selling and he thought his workers might be taking some of the money.

Cash Register Countinued
On his trip to Europe he made friends with the workers on the ship and saw how they recorded the revolutions of the ship’s propellers. He cancelled his trip thinking he could make a similar device. He made the first on in 1879 and patented the second, improving it later that year. He than went into business for cashiers. By 1890 John H Patterson bought the compainy, and created printing receipts. He changed the name to National Cash Register Co. or the NCR which still makes them. -

Lewis E. Waterman
He innovated the fountain pen. He was a book agent allowing him to be a good salesman. He sold life insurance and built a substantial and profitable business. He gave up the agency and started to play with the idea of a fountain pen. In 1883 he did many experiments and progressed rapidly, allowing him to create patents on Feb. 12 and Nov 4 1884. He found a way to control the flow of ink and in 1887 built a company which he managed until death. This allowed the pens we have today. -
Braille Type Writer
The Braille Typewriter was invented by Frank Haven Hall in Chicago, IL. He wanted to allow the blind to write without using common slate or metal frame. In 1890 he went to the institution for the Education of the Blind at Jacksonville, IL. He educated himself in the teaching of the blind by visiting their school and become familiar with their printing methods. He made a machine that multiple copies could be printed from and the Hall Braille Writer allowing them to write and read easier. -
