Jerry Garcia is a very well respect guitarist of all times. He learned to play on his own just by watching the hands of other guitarist and saw how they moved (rolling stones). This is how he truly became one with the guitar he never learned by reading notes but by the soud. This is what truly makes him a remarkable person and artist. -

He was not only great at playing the guitar but also singing. For instance the song High time while listening to the solo you can hear the depth and soul in his voice. Influential Teacher
There was one very influential person in his life who happened to be his teacher in third grade. She was a bohemian girl who was free going and all about the arts she had her students do crafts every day like ceramics and paper machie. He believed at that point that thats what he was going to pursue as an adult (Rolling stones). The type of world and personality she showed him was reflected in him today by they way he reacts and comments to things there is a very relaxed free spirit to him. -

This all began on his 15th birthday when he received his first guitar and learned to play the guitar on his own. Death
Sadly he died at the age of 53 in a rehab facility, he died of a heart attack(The Death of Jerry Garcia). Although he is dead he will always be alive on earth through the music he has performed and worked on. Many people look up to him as a musician so in that aspect Jerry is still living today. -
70th birthday
Having an older sibling can be hard sometimes but have cutting someones finger off may be a little extreme. This is exactly what happened to Jerrys older brother, they would be cutting a piece of wood with an axe and Tiff the older brother would swing his finger in between the axe and the piece of wood most times he would make it out alright but not one time. The last time they played this Jerry Garcia had chopped his finger off (Jerry Garcia Gets Birthday). -

Instead of being embarred about the story he sat there and chuckled a little and made light as he was looking back.This made me laugh because even at his old age he was looking back at his childhood giggling about a big event that happened. I enjoyed it because it really demonstrated that he was a carefree easy going person through his life.
