The fishermen delivers Bourne to the drunk Dr. Geoffrey Washburn, who fixes him. Washburn later finds out that Bourne has amnesia, Bourne can not remember anything about himself, not even his name. The doctor also finds a piece of microchip in Bourne´s hip, which contains information about a bank account in Europe. Bourne uses about six months to recover from det incident -
THE END
Intelligence officers explain to Marie that Bourne's real name is David Webb. He was a Foreign Service Officer whose Thai wife and two children were killed in Vietnam by an airplane attack. After the war, Webb was recruited for the Treadstone project to destroy Carlos and went into deep cover, taking the name Jason Bourne and the alias Cain, pretending to be an assassin to lure Carlos out of hiding and trap him. The novel ends as U.S. intelligence promises to protect Webb around the clock. -

Bourne borrows a passport from Dr. Washburn, travels to Marseille and after gets a fake passport from a forger to travel to Zurich. At the bank an assassin shows up to kill Bourne, which was supposed ti be dead. At the bank, Bourne finds out his identity an name, Jason Bourne, and that he worked fir something called Treadstone Corporation -
Marie St. Jacques
Shortly after, Bourne manages to leave the bank. He was attacked coming out of the bank by a group of bad guys. To escape them, he kidnaps a economist from Canada named Marie St. Jacques. She was scared, but she eventually manages to escape. But badly she got caught by the bad guys, one of whom rapes her. -

Bourne manages to track Marie down and rescue her. But he injures himself badly under the process of saving her. Marie is grateful to him for the rescue, and she helps him recuperate in a hotel room. He then explains that he has amnesia. And with a small period of time, the two fall in love, -

Bourne thinks the answers to his identity are in Paris. So Marie and Bourne travel to Paris, even though he did not want her to com because he do not want Marie to be involved in the dangerous actions. But Marie promises to help him get the money he needs, so he agrees -
Carlos
Bourne is now in Paris and he tries to find out who the people that want to kill him are. He tries to find the boss for Treadstone, but he then manages to find himself connected to an international terrorist assassin named Carlos the jackal. Bourne then fears that he is an assassin and that Carlos is his boss -

Bourne discovered where Carlos route all his messages out from, a Fashion house. Bourne interrogates the chief at det fashion house and she explains that Bourne was an assassin who tried to challenged Carlos by performing spectacular kills because of Carlos´s supremacy -
Dennis
Marie has a friend from the Canadian embassy in Paris named Dennis. She wanted him to check a number that lead to New York that Bourne had found. Later that day Dennis was shot in the throat and died while meeting someone at the airport. Which means that anyone who tried to help Bourne would get hurt or die -

Bourne was planning to leave Marie because of the danger he puts her in. But before he could do that, a newspaper story apparently planted by Carlos, that Marie is involved in a massive global theft. And because she now has to run from the law, he did not leave her -
Conklin
Bourne has a meeting with a U.S. intelligence officer named Conklin. Conklin tries to kill Bourne but obviously fail because Bourne is one of the best assassins. Bourne now know that Treadstone is after him and that what the organization is. Bourne now decides to go to New York to try to finish his plan that includes killing Carlos
