James "Jim" Bowie Birth
He was born in 1796. He was born to John Bowie and Alvina Jones in Logan Country Kentucky. He had numerous brothers and sisters, two of his brothers lived and owned land in Arkansas. His exact birthdate is known but only to God as of now. -

James Bowies family moved to Louisiana when he was about six. This was about in the year of 1802. He moved with his mother, father, and their other children. -

Bowie and his brother Rezin were introduced to the pirate Jean Lafitte. Bowie soon partnered with Lafitte in illegally importing slaves by smuggling them from Texas, which was not then part of the United States. He bought undeveloped land with the money that he earned on the side. -

While at the Alamo a illness left him bedridden. Bowie died with the other Alamo defenders on March 6. Despite conflicting accounts of the manner of his death, the most popular, and probably the most accurate sources say that he died in his bed after emptying his pistols into several Mexican soldiers. -
