Born to parents Louis Comte and Rosalie Boyer
Unpopularly, his parents were both Royalists and Roman Catholics. This in the time following the French Revolution, contradicted with the widespread sentiments of republicanism and skepticism. Such contradiction may have been like water to the seed of a philosophical mind. -
École Polytechnique
At age 25, Comte entered into Paris' school for advanced sciences, École Polytechnique, where he ranked 4th on the admissions list. He moved to Paris permanently to attend the school in 1816, working as a journalist or teaching mathematics. -

Originating Positivism
After a year long recovery from a mental breakdown, Comte spent almost another two years presenting his growingly popular lecture series promulgating his positivism theory that society, as well maybe understood by way of scientifically approaching its data and evidence. For the next twelve years, he devoted himself to publishing his philosophy in six tomes entitled, "Cours de Philosophie Positive." (1830-42) -
Romantically Influenced
Being deeply stricken by an intensely emotional, though short lived romance with Clotilde de Vaux and her death in 1846, Comte, foundered the Religion of Humanity. The basic tenets of the French religion are altruism in regards to others especially women, order in society, and progress through the sciences. -

Further Formulating
Comte spent another three years publishing four more volumes entitled, "Système de politique positive" (1851-54) centering his theories of morality and moral progress, around which his Religion of Humanity and the ideal society he planned to createare are based.
