Charles Drew VideoCharles Drew is a pioneering medical researcher. His research led to discoveries that made possible life saving blood transfusions due to medical events such as injuries and surgery. Charles Drew did extraordinary work, but what made him even more extraordinary is that he was a black man practicing medicine and publishing research at a time when such opportunities were limited because of racism. Charles Drew is an inquirer because his questions led to answers that benefit humans world wide. -

I was born in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. I have a sister and two brothers. I am knowledgeable because I enjoy reading and writing about different topics. I recently wrote a report about the beginning of the modern day Olympics, and another report on the life of Abraham Lincoln. -

Pi Record BreakerA Japanese man and his own homemade computer set a record for calculating the digits of pi...he calculated 5 trillion digits of them! Shigeru Kondo's three month calculation consumed a lot of energy in his home, increasing his household electric bill by $238. Kondo has been wanting to calculate the digits of pi since his college days (he was 55 years old when he accomplished this task). Kondo shows commitment because he set a goal in college and accomplished his goal more than 20 years later!
