On april 12 1861 General P.G.T Beauregard in command of the confederate forces located near the Charleston Harbor fired upon Fort sumpter starting the Civil war -

He inlisted
He inlisted in the civil war shortly after the president called for 300,000 volunteers. He felt it was his duty as a christan. -
Gaurd duty
He had his first time being on gaurd duty. he found it easyier than he expected to. -
Guns
He and his regament recived there guns and equipment for the first time.He was also formally sworn into the Us army. -
visitors!
His sistors came to visit him. he got a furlough but had to be back the next day by 3pm. -
Battle!
He got sent on a long march and on the way they were greated by the wounded and soon were put in battle! -
package
He laid in bed almost all day trying to stay warm and reading newspapers from home. He recived a letter saying that he was getting a box of things soon. -
worry:(
He said it was a beutiful day and he wrote a letter to his brother ronnie but he was worried what he would wear and eat. -
quaters
he said it was a bitter cold day and he laid wrapped up almost all day. when the surgeon came around and he asked to be transfered quaters. it was granted but it was little better. -
Order
He recived a order to go get his knapsack from storage. he took a steamboat at 10 am to washington -
tent
He spent all day fixing his tent made out of logs. -
Fort monroe
They sailed into Chesapeake bay by Fort Monroe -
march
They marched at 6:30 am made it ten miles near dicks river. -
Fired upon
He said some were killed that night getting in there postions and more were wounded that night.his friend was standing behind a tree when struck by a bullet and fell at his feet. -
sick
John birch in his regement was verry sick turning out in lots of spasms it took 4 people to hold him down. -
march
Marched at 7 AM. 10 miles they camped beside Little Rock Cartle River at 12.Route over Wild Cat Mountain, across Rock Cartle River, roughest road he ever saw -
Cold
it was verry cold for him and his army he said many of them were clothless and shoeless and were not suitable for the year ahead of them. -
march again
At midnight orders were given to be ready for them to march at daybreak. there stuff was stored in knoxville. -
Guns examination
they sent people to come by and examine the guns to see if they were in good condition and if new ones needed to be brought in -
civil war ends!
the civil war ends and is spread through news papers.
