The Kings Ghost
Hamlet follows his father's ghost, who tells him that his brother murdered him so he can steal his wife and his crown. Hamlet promises to get his revenge, and swears the people around him to secrecy about seeing the ghost. -
The Realization
Hamlet gets mad at himself in a soliloquy about how the actor in his play can cry for a pretend murder but hamlet still hasn't done anything about his father's real murder. He decides to use his actors to make a play of his father's murder so he can see Claudius's reaction. -
Suicide...or not
Hamlet starts his soliloqui. "To be or not to be, that is the question,". In this speech he talks about how the fear of the afterlife and how it forces people to deal with the harsh realities of life rather than escaping them. -
Ophelia
Hamlet runs into Ophelia. He tells her he once loved her, then tells her he never loved her. He accuses Ophelia of lieing, being dishonest, and verbally abuses her. "Get thee to a nunnery!" he yells. -
Reaction
Claudius is shows that he is disturbed by the poisoning scene in the play, and Hamlet is excited that his plan has worked. He tells Rosencrantz and Guildenstern that he knows they are on the kings side, not his. -
Heaven or hell
Hamlet runs into Claudius praying and Hamlet is furious. He almost kills him at that moment, but then decides that Claudius needs to go to Hell when he dies, so it would be better if he waits for a moment for him to commit a sin, rather than murdering him while he's praying. -
wrongfull death
Hamlet yells at Gertrude about her awful marriage to Claudius and accidentally stabs and kills Polonius, thinking he is the King. -
wheres the body?
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern try to get Hamlet to tell them where he has hidden Polonius's body. Hamlet will not answer them but instead keeps giving them riddles. -
England
Claudius forces Hamlet to tell him where Polonius's body is, then sends Hamlet to England, where the king hopes Hamlet will be killed. -
Army
On his way to England Hamlet sees Fortinbras's army on their way off to war and decided to stop waiting and to carry out his plans for revenge. "From this time forth, my thoughts be bloody or be nothing worth," he swears. -
Deceit
Hamlet tells Horatio that the King Claudius had tried to have him killed, but that he had gotten out of it. He replaced his name with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern's names on the death warrant the king had issued, so Rosencrantz and Guildenstern would be killed in place of him when they got to England -
The final blow
Laertes sends a message challenging Hamlet to a just-for-fun swordfight. Hamlet doesnt feel to good about it, but accepts. In the "fun" swordfight, Hamlet ends up killing Laertes and finally stabs and poisons Claudius, but then Hamlet ends up dieng becuase of the poisen cut Laretes gave him. Hamlet Tells Fortinbras that he should be the next king of denmark even though its a job no sane person would ever want.
