Exposition 1 - Backround
Eric has a Mom and a Dad and both of them are scientists who are always busy with there work. Eric grew up in Toronto for his whole entire life and he had already completed 1st-7th grade. -
Exposition 2 - Setting
Eric lived in Toronto for his shole life but was moving to Victoria and did not live near any cities. He attends Windamere acedemy which is a private school. -
Exposition 3 - Characters
Eric is the main character of the book and he has two parents that are both scientists. Another important character in the book is Peter one of Erics dads students -
Rising action 1 - Eric meets Zan
Eric's mom brings home a chimpanzee from a labrotory so she and Erics dad can attempt to teach the chimpanzee sign langauge. They decide to name the chimpanzee Zan becuause it is a short and simple name that the chimpanzee will be able to learn and understand -
Rising action 2 - Eric's birthday!
It is Erics birthday and he and his dad are going to arrive at there new home in Victoria today. Eric is turning 13 and he and his dad plan on swimming in the lake, eating pizza for dinner, and celebrating at night with a new bicycle and cake. -
Rising action 3 - Eric gains friends
Eris meets a few friends that go to a nearby public school that turns out being a bad school. Eric also meets David, a kid who goes to Windermere Acedemy, a highly ranked private school that his dad was looking forward to making Eric go -
Rising action 4 - Windermere Acedemy
Eric gets into a heated arguement with his dad on whether or not he should go to the public school nearby, or the private school nearby. His dad ends up over ruling Eric and forces him to go to Windermere Acedemy -
Rising action 5 - Zan
Eric soon begins to slowly like the chimpanzee (Zan) and starts to play with it and teach it sign langauge when his parents aren't home or when they are doing yard work. -
Rising Action 6 - Jeniffer Goodwin
Eric soon meets his friends davids sister named Jennifer Goodwin and Eric thinks that she is amazing and immediately starts to have a crush on her that is very strong. -
Rising action 7 - Peter
Erics dad needs to interview students that can help him work with Zan for his scientific project on Zan. He hires Peter after carefull thought and Eric begins to start becoming fast friends with him and looks up to him like the older brother that he never had. -
Rising action 8 - 9th Grade
Eric finished summer and now hes on to 9th grade,which is a big step considering the fact that he moved from junior- high to highschool. He meets new friends and still has not told Jeniffer how he feels about her. -
Confict/Turning Point - Bye Bye Zan
Eric looks through his parents mail when hes not supposed to and suddenly finds out that since the project with Zan isn't going as his dad wanted it too, they have no other choice than to give him to a research facility where he will live with ohter chimps and see how he interacts with them. Also Jennifer starts going out with another guy named Hugh -
Falling Action 1 - Arguements!
Eric talks to his parents about keeping Zan and says that he will do anything too keep him, even spend all of the money hes saved up in his life. He learns that there is no way to keep Zan because it is far too expensive and needs to have a better home somewhere else. -
Falling Action 2 - I'm running away!
Eric decides that he is goin to run away with Zan in the forest where no one will ever find him and will live happily ever after with Zan forever. He quickly learns that it would be impossible because he has no shelther no food or water and campsites nearby would spot him after a few days. -
Falling Action 3 - Girl Problems
Eric begins to become depressed over the fact that he will never be able to go out with Jennifer becuase her brother David told him that she just didn't like him and that they didn't have "chemistry" she called it. So Eric visits Peter to talk about his problems -
Falling action 4 - So long Zan
Eric says goodbye to Zan once and for all at the research facility and is hearbroken. He finds out that Peter will be staying there starting in the summer and he becomes happier because he and Zan were always really close friends -
Falling Action 5 - Uh Oh!
Eric and his family learn themselves that Zan will be shiped instead to a chemical testing lab where they will inject different chemicals into him and see what happens, this is exactly what Eric and his parents did not want to happen because it is like torture for the chimp. So they decide to go kidnapp the chimp and take it too there home, which is breaking the law -
Resolution 1 - Zan gets lucky
Eric and his parents find out that it is illegal for someone to trade a testing lab chimp in for money, so now Erics family can allow Zan to go to a facility where chimps are not experimented on but simply get to live with one another completely happy. -
Resolution 2 - Shanon
Eric finally gets over Jennifer and starts to date her friend named Shanon.
