  • Birth

    George Washington was born in Virginia, on Wakefield Farm which his family owned.
  • Schooling and Career

    Schooling and Career
    Washington didn't get a high education due to his father's death, however, he finished his formal schooling and started studying mathematics and became a successful surveyor.
  • Travel

    George Washington traveled with his half brother, who had tuberculosis, to Barbados where Washington got small pox and his half brother died a year later in 1752. Later Washington inherited his half brothers estate.
  • Military

    In December, Washington was appointed commander of the Virginia militia for the French and Indian war and soon was given control of all of Virginia's militia forces.

    Washington stepped down from being commander and was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses and served there until 1774. He married Martha Custis and became a stepfather.
  • Beginning of Revolution

    In 1760 Washington thought declaring freedom from England was for the best and he served as a delegate to the First Continental Congress.

    During the second Continental Congress meeting, Washington was appointed as Commander-in-chief and had to train and discipline unruly soldiers.

    While Washington was in office he moved capitals, the federal government, created a new capital, and found someone to create a new design for a city. 1790-1791

    After his first term, Washington was reelected for a second term where he fights in political battles and settles post revolution issues.
  • Death

    After declining a third term, Washington returns to his peaceful life, devoting his time to his plantation and home. He gets sick and dies of a throat infection at 67. He was put to rest at Mount Vernon
