He could not go to school because he was black. Susan Carver taught him to read and write. He liked to learn. He finally went to high school in Minneapolis, Kansas, He got a diploma from Minneapolis High School. He was accepted to college at Highland College in Kansas. When they figured out he was black he could not attend. -

Tuskegee Institutue
After reciving his bachelor and master degree from Iowa state, Booker T. Washington hired him to run the agricultural department at the Tuskegee institute in Alabama. -

He developed new crops for the south like soybeans,sweet potatoes, and peanuts. He developed the Jesup Wagon a traveling class room to teach farmers about the new crops. He invented things from the new crops like paint,dies,plastics,and gasoline. -
