In 1920 Fleming was looking for something that could kill germs (sntiseptic).
-
When Fleming was packing up his lab as it was messy. He found one of his later experiments where he was growing bacteria. He decided to take a last look at his experiment. When he looked at it he found a mold and it was Penicillin. He later found dead bacteria. He made a prediction that Penicillin could be controlled and kill bacteria.

Flemming had run a test where he had placed the mold, penicillin into a petri dish and then put bacteria and if he would find dead bacteria, he could prove his theory. Flemming's theory was then later proved to be true. Flemming then tried to see if he could control the mold to kill the bacteria properly. Which it worked. He also found out that it is not toxic.
