When Brad (Age 1) was born he learned fast that if he cried one of his parents would come and find out what he needed. In Erikson's first stage, trust vs. mistrust, the crisis is between if a caregiver gives a baby everything it needs to survive or not. -
Brad and Diane: Tie the Knot (Intimacy vs. Isolation)
Brad (Age 25) and Diane decided to bring their lives together and get married. In Erikson’s fifth stage, intimacy vs. isolation, the crisis is between letting someone get emotionally close with someone in a committed relationship or not letting anyone close enough to really get to know you or have a relationship with. -
Brad: Last Days (Ego Integrity vs. Despair)
Brad died with his wife and kids all around him. Looking back on his full life, he realized all of the good things he did in his life and for his family. In Erikson’s eighth stage, ego integrity vs. despair, the crisis is between being happy with ones life no matter anything that had happened (ego integrity) and having doubts about one's life or wishing they had more time to do things (despair).
