    Stage 3: Initiative v. guilt: Dylan explores the world around him
    Dylan is an energetic 4 year old boy who loves dogs. In fact, Dylan thinks he is a dog. He runs around on all fours barking and panting. He also has a favorite stuffed dog he thinks is real and has named Peanut Butter after his favorite treat. During snack time, Dylan's mom places two plates at the table, one for Dylan, and the other for Peanut Butter, his very best friend. One of Dylan's favorite things to do is help his dad by passing him the tools when his father is fixing something.

    Dylan (10) is in his fourth year of elementary school. He has made a lot of friends in the class room and on the playground. His closest friends live right in his neighborhood. When Dylan is at school, he likes to help his teacher by passing papers out to the class. Dylan has noticed Susie, a classmate, also likes to help by watering the class plant. During the evenings, Dylan likes to ride his bike around his neighborhood with his friends.

    Dylan (25) is in his last semester of graduate school in another state. On the first day of instruction, Dylan notices a familiar face across the classroom. He recognized Susie from 4th grade. After class he approaches her and they agree to become study partners. They meet a few times at the local pub to study and catch up on what they have been doing since grade school. Susie feels like a little piece of home. Soon, they both develop feelings for each other on a deep personal level.
