Infancy
Marisol gave birth to a healty baby boy named Holden. From birth she breast fed him and built a bond. He depended on her for food and comfort.
This goes along with the trust vs. mistrust stage in Ericksons model. If Holden's mother did not bond with him, feed him or comort him or meet his basic needs overall he would struggle as time went on with trusting people. -
Teenage Years
Holden is now 14 years old and in the early part of his teen years. He tried out for the high school foot ball team because he wanted to be popular and thats what all the other guys his age were doing. This fits in with the Identity vs. confusion stage meaning during this stage teenagers are trying to find who they are and having a sense of self. There is a lot of pressure during this time because without identity they are confused about who they truly are. -
Adulthood
Holden is now 24 years old. He decided to settle down and get married to his high school sweetheart whom he had been dating all throughout high school and college.
He felt uneasy about making a commitment such as marriage for the fear of failure or rejection. He also did not want to be alone for the rest of his life and time was ticking, He wasn't getting any younger. This is an example of the Intamacy vs. isolation stage.
