    Charles Manson Power Timeline

The extremely powerful and controversial details in a simple man's life.
  • Charles Abandoned : Age 13

    Charles Abandoned : Age 13
After his mother failed at trying to put Charles in foster care, A court put him in Gibault School for Boys in Indiana. Charles fled to his mother after ten months who rejected and abandoned him, sending him out on the streets where he would learn to get by through stealing cars, writing false checks and pimping. ("Charles Manson Biography.") His power was negative and he gained it from striking fear and hope in people. He gained it by starting small through these petty crimes and building up.
  • Charles Imprisoned: Age 18

    Charles Imprisoned: Age 18
By 18 Manson was living on the streets, "getting by through petty crime." ("Charles Manson Biography.") He was arrested and considered 'dangerous', 'unpredictable', and 'safe only under supervision.' (see above citation.) This is where he continued gaining the power needed to have his 'Family' follow him. He built up respect from others as they started to fear him.
  • Manson Arrested Again: Age 24

    Manson Arrested Again: Age 24
Manson went back and fourth to prison throughout 1958 for many offenses, including pimping like before, and passing stolen checks. He was divorced from his first wife Rosalie this month as well. His divorce as well as marriage right after could have brought up memories of the family he once belonged to, causing him to crave power at the head of a 'family' he created.
  • Manson Released From Prison

    Manson Released From Prison
Manson was released from prison after tapping into his creative talents, learning how to play the guitar. Everyone has their traits that draws others to them. I believe that his music is part of the reason he has many followers because it gave them something to discuss. This is also the date that he started gathering his followers to create a 'family', which could be showing how he delt with the rejection of his own family as well as his motivation for murder. ("Charles Manson Biography.")
  • The Rejection That Led to Murder

The Rejection That Led to Murder
Dennis Wilson(pictured)introduced Manson to Terry Melcher, who Manson later auditioned for. Melcher rejected Manson and it was said that "the Polanski house was targeted because it 'represented' Manson's rejection by the showbiz world and society."("Charles Manson Biography") This shows that he was rejected by a person of power, and channeled his rejection into revenge, comming back as a person of power to lead the murders in 1969.
  • THE FAMILY COMMITS MURDER

    THE FAMILY COMMITS MURDER
Charles was so powerful that he convinved his family to commit the murders of actress Sharon Tate(7 months pregnant), Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger and Wofeiech Frykowski, all residing at Roman Polanski's Beverley Hills home. None of the murderers had anything against these people in general, which shows the power that Manson had over his followers, influencing them to kill innocent people.
  • Trial Begins: Age 35

    Trial Begins: Age 35
Manson's trial began the same day as his accomplises, including Susan Atkins. It was obvious that he held power over his 'family' because of his said 'family's testimonies against him. He held power over them like Jesus holds power over Christians. It was said that he and his family saw him as the 'new messiah.' ("Charles Manson Biography.")
  • Manson Convicted of First Degree Murder

Manson Convicted of First Degree Murder
Charles Manson was convicted of first degree murder for directing the deaths of 1969. He and Susan Atkins were scentenced to death, but automatically commuted to life in prison after the Supreme Court invalidated all death scentences prior to 1972. Even in prison, locked up behind bars and never seeming to come out of his cell, Manson still attracks followers today. Proving to be the most notorious and powerful serial killer alive. ("Charles Manson Biography.")
  • Charles Manson Still Behind Bars: Age 79

Charles Manson Still Behind Bars: Age 79
Still behind bars today, Charles recieves and sends letters to his followers as well as girlfriend 'Star.' Though he is constantly denied parole and can't see his 'family' in person, Manson is still powerful enough to attract followers and keep the loyal followers that have been with him since 69'. He has proved himself to be the most notorious and powerful serial killer of our time...so far. ("Charles Manson Biography")
