Birth
Deng was born Deng Xixian in Guangan, Sichuan Province, China. His father, Wenming, was a successful landowner, and his mother, Danshi, was the second of his father's four wives (Kublin). -

World War I
“The War to end all Wars” was started in 1914 with the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and lasted about 4 years. Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and America were sided against Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and Ottoman Empire. This major war occurred when Deng was just a child (History.com). -
Graduation
In 1920, Deng graduated from Chongqing Preparatory School, getting him ready for his political career. After, he travelled with about 80 of his classmates to France to study. As a 16 year old already out of school, he has to work in a factory to provide for himself as a machinist. Graduating and traveling across the continent (Eur-Asia) at the age of 16 was very significant in his steps toward political power as he got good experience at a young age and learned to be on his own (sjsu.edu). -
Training
2 years after joining the Communist party, Deng spent a year in Moscow in Marxist training. After he finishes, he returns back to Southern China. Marxist training was a good trip to take because it was yet another thing that would lead him to become a high leader in Communist China (sjsu.edu). -
Television Invented
In the mid 1920's the first television was invented and tv's had started to be sold to the public, right around the time that Deng participated in Marxist training in Moscow, Russia (pbs.org). -
Denounced and Arrested
Due to internal rivalries in the Communist Party, Deng gets denounced and dismissed from all of his political duties. He is also arrested and is divorced by his wife. This would cause a lot of stress for him in his long life of politics (sjsu.edu). -

Britain, France, Soviet Union, America, and China sided against Germany, Italy, and Japan in the Second World War. Deng's China was with the Allies while he held certain political duties within the People's Republic (Snow). -
Vice Premier
The People's Republic of China appoints Deng as their Vice Premier. He deserved his position from going to Moscow with Mao Zedong and other Communist leaders to meet with Stalin. Deng held his own at the debate landing him his respect back and into a Vice Premier position (sjsu.edu). -

Vietnam War
South Vietnam, a non-communist state, fought North Vietnam, a communist state. The South had help from America, South Korea, Laos, China, and many, many others. Deng had been the Vice Premier of China during the beginning, siding with the South, but the second half of the Vietnam War was fought when Deng had been denounced from his political positions (Brittanica.com). -

Denounced Again
Deng is once again denounced from their Communist Party during the Great Cultural Revolution. He is sent to a factory to work as a machinist just as he did when he was 16 and graduated from Prep School (sjsu.edu). -

Son paralyzed
During the time that Deng was denounced for the second time, his son is thrown out of a second floor building window, becoming paralyzed from the waist down. This made things even worse for Deng as he had just gotten kicked out of office, and now they threw his son out a window, leaving him to never walk again. This caused a lot of pain for him during his time of being fired for the second time of his political career (sjsu.edu). -
Chief of People's Liberation Army
Towards the end of the year, Deng had emerged as the paramount leader of China after being removed from his political positions multiple times. Deng had regained political power and had become the Chief of staff of the People's Liberation Army in China (sjsu.edu). -
Retirement
Deng had remained the paramount leader of China for many years, gaining many leadership roles in the military, organizations, and other political offices, until around the early 1990's when he stepped down from all his political duties (sjsu.edu). -
World Wide Web
In the early 1990's, Tim Berners Lee invented the World Wide Web for the computer, towards the end of Deng's lifetime, not leaving him many years to use the internet (pbs.org). -
Meteorite from Mars
A meteorite coming from Mars in 1996 gained much attention when scientists claimed to have found microscopic fossils preserved inside of it, thus creating a theory that there was once life on another planet in our solar system. This happened less than a year before Deng passed away (pbs.org). -
Death
In 1997, Deng died of respiratory problems related to Parkinson's disease, thus ending his long life of political ups and downs (Kort).
