Jewish Store Boycott
Because of everything going on in germany at the time Nazi's made people decide to boycott Jewish stores but unlike most others, Mrs. Werner didn't let that stop her from going into the store. -
Educational Discrimination
When Daniel was in school, even the teachers gave in to the Nazi's and was biased against the students. The teacher calls Daniel vermin and tries to measure his head showing that he's lesser than "pure" germans. -
Name Changes
The germans decreed that all jews had to add a jewish name to their own. Boys had to add the name Israel and girls had to add the name Sara. -
Ashes
Daniel and his family got a parcel from Dachau only to realise it was Uncle Peter's ashes. -
Rosa
Daniel met a girl named rosa and found it strange how she could be smiling in such terrible times but kind of liked it nonetheless. He thought her smile was an act of defiance all on its own. -
Daniel's 16th Birthday
On Daniel's 16th birthday his father insisted on taking a picture of daniel and rosa. Daniel could only take the pictures he really wanted so the occasions had to be special despite the birthday being in the ghetto. -
Ride to Auschwitz
Daniel's 17 and he’s on his way to a concentration camp with his father, mother, and sister and he couldn’t bring all of his pictures but some of them but he also had the memories of being there and he just thought about them during the train ride.
