Theodore Khols enlisted in the army at the age 14. He lied to recruiters and said that he was 22. According to his diary he enlisted to get away from home. -

The Pool of Peace was formed by a huge explosion set off on Messines Ridge. The attack was a huge success for the allies. It was set up with 19 land mines. -
Stationed in France
Theodore was first stationed in France and he spent five days there befor even seeing a German.He was there for two weeks before getting transfered to Meuse County. It was there where he experienced trenches for the first time. -

Theodore was part of several wiring details. In his diary he says that it was the scariest part of his job. One time in the middle of the night he ran into a soldier from the other side. -
Injuries
Theodore Khols was injured on this day by a bullet to the hip. He said that his only company was the son of Ex President Roosevelt. At this time Theodore thought he was going to die. -
The hospital
Theodore was in the hospital for a month and a half. He never saw combat but he was sent back to France. He said it was a good break and that he was happy sleep in a real bed. -
