Santiago Nasar's death
The day Santiago Nasar died was the day the Bishop was coming. 27 years later, his mother, Placida said that he was always dreaming about trees. A week earlier she said he had a dream about being in a tin foil plane and flying through trees without hitting anything. Santiago ran into many people 5 minutes past 6 before being murdered an hour later. That morning the weather was not great that day. A month earlier, he had just turned 21. His dad died 3 years prior to his death. -
chapter 1
Santiago rises and dresses in a formal outfit of white linen. When Santiago is working in the country, the narrator informs us, he carries a gun, but he leaves it behind today. In fact, his house is filled with guns, but he keeps them under lock and key, a safety precaution his late father, Ibrahim Nasar, taught him. -
Angela Vicario's Wedding
to Bayardo

Wedding day
General Petronio San Román and family arrive on the National Congress' ceremonial boat. Formal activities end, the guests of honor leave on the boat. Angela sends for a suitcase of personal things and regular clothes. Pura Vicario goes to bed, after cleaning up after the party. -
Night Before Murder pt 1
The “after-party” breaks up.
01:00 - Bayardo knocks at Pura Vicario’s door, returns Angela.
Angela is subsequently beaten.
02:00 - Nasar drinks/serenades with Cristo Bedoya, Narrator, Luis Enrique, and others.
03:00 - Pura Vicario summons her twins home.
Angela tells them that it was Santiago Nasar.
They go to the pigsty and get knives.
03:20 - The Vicario brothers go to the meat market to sharpen the knives.
04:00 - Cristo Bedoya is with Santiago Nasar and the Narrator. -
The Bishop's Boat arrives
Santiago Nasar leaves his house. The Vicario Brothers awake on a bench, see Santiago Nasar pass by. Luis Enrique briefly awakes in his bathroom, but falls asleep again. Flora Miguel awakes, soon finds out about the murder and the twins' motives, and she cries. -
Margot offers breakfast to Santiago and he accpets
06:25 Nasar decides to change clothes before he eats breakfast at the Narrator’s/Margot's house. He says he will be there by 6:40. -
Angela is beaten
Bayardo knocks at Pura Vicario’s door, and returns Angela.
Angela is subsequently beaten. Nasar drinks/serenades with Cristo Bedoya, Narrator, Luis Enrique, and others. Pura Vicario summons her twins home. Angela tells them that it was Santiago Nasar. 18:00 - The autopsy is performed on Santiago Nasar’s body. It is a grotesque, botched affair. Pg 75 ch 4 -

Santiago Nasar wakes up from a dream on the day of his death. Victoria Guzmán wakes him up. Santiago reports his dream to his mother. He goes downstairs to drink his coffee, while Victoria and Divina Flor butcher rabbits -
Narrator and Maria
The Narrator goes to Maria Alejandrina Cervantes's, dreams—then they don't have sex.
Throughout the day, everything smells of Santiago Nasar.
