    "Che" Guevara de la Serna was born in Rosario, Argentine. His Mother (Celia de la Serna y Llosa) and Father (Ernesto Guevara Lynch) were happy to have Che be born June 14, 1928. In Che’s childhood he grew up with 4 other siblings, Roger, Juan Martin, Ana Maria and Celia.

    Che graduated high school with honors. Then he studied medicine at the University of Buenos Aires. However in 1951 he left the school to travel around South America with a friend.

    In 1951 when going to africa with his friend he saw the poor living conditions. This had a profound effect on Guevara. He than returned to medical school the following year, intent on providing care for the needy. He received his degree in 1953. However he decided to abandon medicine, believing that only revolution could bring justice to the people of South America.

    In 1954 he went to Mexico. Then the following year he met Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro. Guevara joined Castro's '26th July Movement' and played a key role in the eventual success of its guerrilla war against Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista.

    Between 1955 & 1967 Che had married twice. He was married to Hilda Gadea from 1955-1959 and then was married to Aleida March from 1959-1967. Between these to woman he had 5 children, Aleida Guevara, Camilo Guevara, Celia Guevara, Ernesto Guevara, Hilda Beatríz.

    Castro moved on from Batista in 1959 and took power in Cuba. From 1959-1961, Guevara was president of the National Bank of Cuba, and then minister of industry. In this position, he travelled the world as an ambassador for Cuba. At home, he carried out plans for land redistribution and the nationalisation of industry.

    By 1965, with the Cuban economy in disaster, Guevara left his post to export his revolutionary ideologies to other parts of the world. He traveled first to to the Congo to train troops in guerrilla warfare in support of a revolution there. However, left later that year when it failed.

    He then briefly returned to cuba. In 1966 Guevara departed for Bolivia with a small force of rebels to incite a revolution there. For a while the group and him were of the run from the Bolivian Army.

    But then he was then captured by the Bolivian army. Che was killed in La Higuera on October 9, 1967. He had a very harsh and sad death for only being 39.

    After his death,Guevara has become a legendary political figure. His name is often equated with rebellion, revolution and socialism. Guevara's life continues to be a subject of great public interest and also has been explored and portrayed in numerous books and films.
