exposition 1 background
Eric just moved from Ohio to Long Island. He is middle school age and lives with his mom and brother ,Rudy. When he was young his father got a mental illness and was confused and lost in his head until he wasnt really himself, one day he got so overwelmed that the next morning he abandoned Eric, Rudy and his mom. -

Eric and his family moved to Bellport Long Island where Eric goes to Bellport Middle School. -

Eric, a kind, shy middle school age boy meets a cocky, charming and confident boy named Griffin who seems nice on the outside but on the inside there is anger and darkness that Eric doesnt see. -
conflict
Eric doesnt know whether to be friends with Griffin because he seems to be hiding some mean and nasty secrets and he may be a bad influence on Eric. -
rising action 1
Eric has flash backs of his father and thinks that maybe Griffin and his dad are the same way: angry, confused and hidden in their own little world. -

When Eric was over Griffin`s house, Griffin forced Eric to lie to his mom over the phone. He told him to say that his dad was in the shower when he really wasnt there at all. -

Griffin`s father gives him a black eye, now, Griffin seems shy, unconfident and not really himself, until after lunch... -

Eric tried to tell Griffin that hurting David Hallenback was wrong but Griffin was only rude and told Eric to "shut up". That day Eric didnt really want to talk to Griffin and felt unwanted. -

David Hallenback is that kid that everyone beats up, makes fun of and teases and he is Griffin`s #1 target. When Eric first moved here he saw a kid fleeing from behind the school covered in sticky red ketchup. Eric had been outside when David came running and asked him if he was okay. David said nothing and only gave Eric a wicked stare.Ever since that moment he has been glaring at Eric because Griffin beat him up that day. Now that Griffin and Eric are friends David wants nothing to do with him -
rising action 5
During recess Griffin wrestled with David Hallenback until he had David`s arms behind his back wincing in pain. The nearby lunch aid came over to the group to see what all the commotion was about, but what would you expect from Griffin O`Connelly? He quickly released him from that position and grabbed Drew from the huddle and pretended to fight him. the lunch aid asked them to stop and Griffin slapped on his innocent looking smile and apologized to the aid. -
rising action 7
Grifin and his friends played tricks on David Hallenback like "I dare you" where you dare people to do mean stuff to each other that usually gets them in trouble. They also play the game "flinch" where you pretend to hit David and try to make him flinch. Eric tried to talk to David and try to be his friend but David didn't want to be Eric`s friend. -
rising action 8
Eric didnt want to hang out with Griffin because he was rude and a bully. Also Erics mom told him that he wasn't a good influence on him. -
falling action 1
When Griffin was over Eric's house ( Eric and his mom both didn't want Griffin there) Griffin stole Eric`s CD that his dad had given him and stole 27 dollars from Rudy`s piggy bank. -

Over the weekend Eric thinks about what happened at school between Griffin and David. He realizes that Griffin and his friends are bullys and Eric is one too. -
falling action 2
Griffin insulted Eric's dad and planned a fight between Eric and one of Griffin's friends Cody. Griffin told David to lure Eric into the pet cementary so they could fight. After school that day Eric reluctantly gave Rudy 27 dollars from his money and told Rudy to tell mom that he just had lost it, feeling angry and upset by Griffin that day he ran Rudy's room angerly. He came back to Rudys room more cheerful and happily played a game of Nerf basketball. -
falling action 3
That day after school David tricked Eric into thinking that
David had something to show him and brings Eric to the pet cementery. There David brought him to a open space in the corner where no one could see. Griffin and some other friends came up.About a week ago Eric had told Griffin that Cody looked like a weasel and Griffin told Cody that. Cody was furiuos he punched Eric in the face and gut then threw him to the ground wincing. After he was done with him David came up to Eric and kicked him -

Eric and Cody went to couselling the next day, they worked out their problems and now are friends. -

Griffin tells the school that Eric has hidden a knife in his locker. Eric's lockers were checked by teachers but they found nothing. Later that day Eric's bike was gone and Eric had a good idea of who did it,Griffin. Eric gets a job dog walking Mrs. Rosen's, the lunch aide's, dog. Griffin knows Mrs. Rosen and knows that she is rich. Griffin asks Eric to steal one of her belongings for him and it would make him and Eric even. Eric
decides that it is wrong for him to steal and tells Griffin, no. -
resolution 1
Eric goes to Griffins house when no one is home and goes in to steal back his CD from his dad and Rudy`s $27. When he walks in he runs up the stairs to Griffin's room and hears a loud snoring noise. He realizes that he didnt check the garage and that Griffin's dad is here. Eric runs to Griffins room and takes $27 from Griffins wallet and Erics CD from his CD player. Eric took off his shoes so that he would not make noise when Griffins dad wakes up and goes to the bathroom. Eric runs downstairs.. -

Griffin gets a new "set" of friends and forgets about Eric, Mary, and David. -

Eric runs downstairs and runs out the door,Griffins dad sees him and walks over to Eric.Eric prys on the door but it is locked he finally swings the door open and flees out running as fast as possible. Grifin's dad stands at the door, wondering but doesn't follow him. Eric runs to a nearby bench and realizes he left his shoes next to the note he left to Griffin that read "NOW WE ARE EVEN". The next day at school Griffin is sporting Erics shoes. He leans down and says " NOW we are even" -

Mary and Eric become good friends and Mary tells him that she knew all about the planned fight between Cody and Eric and was too much of a coward to tell them to stop. Eric easily forgives her and tells her it's all right.
