Arrived in Hooperville
Bud and Bugs find themselves in Hooperville while they wait to jump a train. It is here that Bud meets Deza Malone, who gives him his first kiss. -

Bud lives in a orphanage with some other boys including Bugs -
Governor
It was the beginning for the African Americans because they could vote for a Governor. Then the Three Governors Crisis was beginning as well on the same year. This crisis happened because before taking the oath to the office Eugene Talmadge died. So when he died no one knew what would happen if the governor-elect dies before taking office. -
Bud Gets a new Family
Bud finally got picked to be with a new family, but he doesn't really want to leave the orphanage because first he doesn't want to leave his friend bugs. Also whenever he gets a new family they always bring him back to a orphanage. -

Escape
Escaped from his new family because they didnt like him an locked him in a shack full of bad bugs, bats, and bees. -
The Ride
a guy found him on the side of the road and took him in to get Herman (a guy bud thinks is his dad) and turns out that Herman is really famous guy in his band. -
Still Running
the flint people were trying to run to the train to get away, but the cops came. Some people ran and made it to the train like bugs. Bud did not make it so he is running away to grand rapids where he think his dad is. -
Found
Bud got to grand rapids and foun is dad -
Bud learns the truth
One night on the road with the band, Bud ends up riding back with Herman E. Calloway who still doesn't trust him. When Bud shows him the contents of his suitcase, some old rocks with dates written on them, Herman asks Bud who is mother is. Bud tells him that his mother was Angela Janet Calloway. We learn that Angela is Herman's daughter whom he had not seen she ran away when she was 21 years old. Herman never knew he had a grand son. -
The Albany Movement
The SNCC wanted the young people to protest against the segregation policies in Albany. Throughout this Albany's African Americans rose above. Many African Americans were jailed for trying to protest. Then MLK got involved and help keep the momentum going. In the end MLK's perspective of the Albany Movement is that it was unsuccessful. -
March
The way African Americans promte Civil Right and ecomic equality. Participants marched down to the Lincoln Monument to listen to speeches, songs, and prayers. Also for MLK's inspirational speech "I Have a Dream" -
Civil Rights
Public Law passed by Congress in 1964. The Acrt forbade discrimination on the basis of sex as well as race in hiring, promoting, and firing. It also enforced the right to vote. -
