Infancy of Max: Trust vs. Mistrust
When Max was born he was completely dependant on his caregivers as he, a newborn, could not take care of himself. Max was born to a young mother, Shiela, who didn't understand a babies needs, teasing him to get a reaction, she would also not change him, or wake up at night to feed him. Eventually, Max stopped crying, he figured out crying would not bring him the things he needs, this combination of actions created a cycle of mistrust for Max such as with Erickson's Trust vs Mistrust. -
Psycho-social stage of Max: Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt
Max is now 3 years old and been adopted by a loving family. His new mother is trying to toilet train him, but with Max's past he see's going to the bathroom as a frightening idea as he was punished and left unchanged when younger. His new mother encourages him and doesn't give up as Erickson believed with Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt. With time and support, Max learned to use the toilet and was praised for his actions. -
Psycho-social of Max Stage 3 - Initiative vs. Guilt
Max is a thriving 3 years old now and started at an early education preschool. Max has been going to school for a few days now and is comfortable in his new environment. Max goes up to the Teacher and asks 's to feed the fish. The teacher obliged his request, Max went up to the fish and fed it. A girl came over and wanted to feed the fish as well, and Max told her how to feed this fish, Max felt like he had a purpose. Max gained the ability to lead, such as with Ericksons Initiative vs. Guilt. -
Psychosocial Max Stage 4 - Industry vs. Inferiority.
Max is now a 6 year old, and he has been tasked with daily chores. At first Max didn't ununderstand what he was supposed to do, and his mother was flustered that he hadnt done his chores, this made max feel doubtful of his abilities. Max's mother realized she needed to help him and show him how to do his tasks. Once she took the time to show him and praised him for trying and doing a good job, Max enjoyed and looked forward to his daily chores, he new he was competent in his abilities to succed.
