    Background
    Henry III joined forces with Henry of Navarre to stop Spanish interference with French succession. Because of this, Henry III made Henry of Navarre his successor. On August 1, 1589, Henry III was stabed and the next day he died.

    Henry IV
    Henry IV was baptised as a catholic, but was raised as a protestant. He decided that Catholicism would be the official religion of France, but gave protestants the right not to be Catholic. He was beheaded at the end of his reign.

    Upon the death of his father in 1610, Louis III became King. Do to the fact that he was under age, his mother served as regent during his childhood. When he gain power he exiled his mother. He died early of tuberculosis.

    When Louis XIV was only 4 his father passed away, and he became King. Throughout his reign he had an aggressive forign policy. Louis XIV raigned for over 72 years.

    Louis was beloved in his childhood. He became King after the death of his great-grandfather Louis XIV. He died a hated man, because of his overspending and other political reasons.
  • Louis XVI

    Louis XVI
    Louis XVI was the final ruling monarch of the Bourbon family. His actions brought the French Revolution crashing down on him. His reign ended with his execution during the French Revolution.

    Louis XVII
    When Louis was only 8 years old his father was executed and he became king. Because this was during the French revolution, it was unsafe for the young king to stay in the public eye. He spent his reign mostly in hiding.

    Effects of the Bourbon Family
    The Bourbon family changed France and the world in many ways. Under the Bourbons France became a major world power and was unified. The Bourbons also spent much of the Royal Treasury and can be largely blaimed for the end of the French monarchy.
